JUST SOME NUMBERS....
A S400 series BW turbo can be had for under $700, they tend to be a little more then a MP turbo but are very durable and putting up crazy numbers. A 70mm p trim turbonetics will cost about $950....
Im a big fan of running a high quality wastegate and blowoff...a TiAL 38mm wastegate will coat $250, a RPS/JGS 50mm blowoff is $100, cheap CX Racing a/a $190. I prefer a single turbo for simplicty sake. Then you could make your current manifolds or headers into turbo style and fab the pipes.
Although I like the ambition and intent with the 671...would ne cool as hell. How far will that stick out the hood? 12"?
I like the meth idea...Im close with a dealer, ME...
Actually, If I mill the existing Edelbrock manifold down to just break into the tops of the runners,....AND if I can get a 1/2" piece of alum plate completely tigged onto those runners as a base/mating surface for the blower, that'll put the bottom of the blower just above the top of the alt. From that line, to the top of the existing air cleaner measures 7". (which coincidentally is the same dimension for a 6-71 case height) the carb measures about 4" from base to top, and a 2 hole "ShotGun" blower hat probably about another 6-8".
(has to be a 2 hole "Shotgun", because no self respecting fabricator would settle for one of those gay, 3 hole, used up, "bug catcher" looking air cleaners that have been sticking through the hood of every tunnel rammed,or blown Camaro since the early 90's)
That said, while the blower itself would be under, the rest of that mess would indeed stick out of the hood right at 10-12".
But that is what is mod is about right? When was the last time you saw a carbureted 6-71 setup that wasn't scraping the bottoms off of the clouds?
REALITY CHECK:
While I agree, an old roots style 6-71 blower would be cool, And nothing sounds like a 3" belt driven huffer. I doubt that I wanna trade my drive-a-bility for that excess. That coupled to the fact that a blower, associated 3" Gilmer drive, two carbs, and my shotgun hat all add up to about 3 grand. Probably adds about 100+ lbs straight on top of the engine as well.
Naww, think I'm gonna let that idea die.
I've been driving this thing alot now, and I'm just now putting my foot in it. Maybe I'm getting old, but to me, now that I've added the heads and cams, it feels fast. Fast as my LS 2 GTO, was (and I thought it felt great), this thing feels as fast or faster. And I get to stick junk gas in it.
The reason for the junk intake stands. No additional power adder for me.
I just wanna complete my old school theme under the hood w/ either (2) 4's, or (3) two barrel carbs.
If I really go off the deep end, I'll get back on my Weber scheme. ( Then it'll be (4) 2's)
The rest of you can buy up all of the 93 octane premium gas.
