Engine Trick Flow Twisted Wedge Heads, Stage 2 Cam, 1.7 Roller Rockers, Will It Work?

Will a set of twisted wedge heads with 1.7RRs that I got for free and a stage 2 track max cam work without PtV problems.

Another question. With a JLT cai, stock manifold (gonna get one later) 70mm throttle body, headers, and a flowmaster exhaust, What size injectors will I need with this stuff plus the heads and cam?

You're going to probably have clearance issues. You would have to measure anyway and that cam would be to big for your combo of parts to run efficiently. Total mismatch of parts that will run like dog dodo. Just saying...

The cam is too big for a stock displacement engine that your not going to turn high enough to take advantage of a cam that size. In other words forget about making any decent low end torque. Your also going to end up with clearance problems with stock pistons with the TW heads and that cam with 1.7 rockers. It will bump the lift from .542/.563 to .575/.598 and I just don't see that clearing with stock pistons. I would go with the Stage 1 cam for a street car and pair it with a set of 24 or 30# injectors max. I ran heads/cam/intake on a 306 with 24# without any issues.

Want do you means too big for stock displacement? I'd understand PTV clearance but what does turning high enough (I'd assume you mean RPMs) have go do with the cam if the heads will bump the redline up to 6500 before valve float.
 
The cam will not fit with 1.7's. I know that fits an explorer motor(with 1.6's). That cam makes power mid to higher rpms. The intake flows low to mid rpms. With all the extra duration you're going to loose low speed air velocity and create a "dog" that is slow to rev through the rpms. The tfs 2 isn't a great performing cam. I've seen a lot of cars with other cams out perform the 2 on the track. With a good MAF,induction track(cai,tb,intake) and heads I would recommend you stay with a tfs1,comp cams 270,or better yet a custom cam. I am assuming you're running steeper rear gears(3.73-4.10's) I also would suggest 24-30#inj and a chip for the ecu for best results.

A custom cam is going to run you about $350 and it will be a little better performing vs a off the shelf cam. I would look at the stage 1 cam if it were my car based on the mods that you listed. I run the Lunati 51014 cam and it is very similar to the Stage 1 cam and I made over 300hp with that cam with heads, intake, etc on a 306. Any specific reason you are set on the stage 2 cam?

I'm thinking of the stage 1 now. I liked the stage 2 because it gave alot of lift and leeways for later mods. I'm thinking of getting a dart SHP 302 block later down the road and building the bottom end while swapping the top end to it and a turbo.

I paid 403$ for my custom billet core custom from bullet cams. Also if you do step up to a dart build you're more than likely going to swap out any cam you previously installed. No point in keeping something designed around a n/a stock block 302. More than likely you will not only add cubic inches but also forced induction and that is a completely different animal. Glad to hear you have decided against the tfs 2. You'll be happy with that smaller cam. It actually works fairly well with forced induction also FYI. Good luck on your build.
