No he said the valve looked good, lifter looked good. and The rocker wasnt damaged.

Also looks like a small leak coolant leak behind the timing cover gasket, and a small leak from the drivers side steering rack. So add a few more thing to the list for the spring. The steering rack seems pretty easy. And we will do the timing cover gasket also. But that is for another day!

Looks like a clean fox, make sure you soak the bolts (timing cover and water pump) the night before with pb blaster and label them.

Heads up on the water pump(like Black1987 stated) soak those bolts for at least 12-24 hours before trying to loosen them. They have a tendency to snap.

this car sounds all sorts of abused. pro tip- find a mountaineer or explorer in the JY. cost to pull should be under 500. comes with the better intake and heads. swap over the fox oil pan, cam, front accessories, and flywheel. congratulations. you now have a 93-95 cobra spec engine for under a grand.

While that is a good kit, you still will need to replace the water pump,balancer,and while at it...all gaskets,oil pump and pickup. You also will need a new bigger fuel pump and injectors,MAF,and throttle body. All said plan on 4K on parts and another 1-2k in labor(if not doing it yourself).

Well we thought we got it for a good price. Turns out not so much after finding out we need to rebuild the motor

Save the 3k... Get a jy Explorer motor for $300.. swap the springs , cam, balancerr etc and for less than $1000 you will have around 270 rwhp.. Spend another $800 for a NOS kit and you have 350rwhp with money to spare.

You know, all advice on what engine to build aside, I shudder at the thought of my 16 year old driving a 300hp+ fox. That's not a lot of HP by todays standards, but it's mostly all available under 4k rpms which is a blip of the throttle and these cars have all the safety features of a candy wrapper.

Yea we wouldn't let him get it as his first car, He is almost 18 and is a pretty good driver. In fact he drives for the company i work doing deliveries in the summer months. But it appears he has a found a motor, that will need to use his intake, distrubuter and pulleys.
