Dave I used SEM vinyl dye in the spray cans to change my son's nasty blue door panels from blue to black. I scrubbed them with detergent, then wiped them down with the prep chemical and sprayed them. Vinyl, cloth, and carpet. All of it. It turned out looking like it was made that way.

Hey Boosted, you wouldn't happen to have any pictures of them would ya?

Before and after.

This was a first coat. I'll see about more pics later. Work has me from sun up to sun down right now.

That does look good. My sons car had the aftermarket economy black door panels when I bought it. I bought a set of originals from EBay, but they're dark gray and I've got to change the vinyl color to titanium. While the carpet at the bottom isn't far off from the floor carpet, I'd like to try to make it a little closer match. Does the carpet feel hard or stiff after dying it? Thanks for the reply ;)

I expected the carpet to get matted and nasty, but it took the dye very well. Looks like it was made black. It looked even better after the last coat.

Got the interior pieces i have shot today. I need to get back to my car and get more. I want to get the center console, the trim around the windshield, the passenger seat (it has mechanical problems), and probably take the glove compartment too.

I'll pull the dash pad to make it easy to get the windshield trim, I also want to have a serious look at the dash. It has a crack right above the glove compartment. I'll probably pull the dash next time and repair it, i guess i'll have easy access to the heater box that way. I need to replace the heater core and the air conditioning evaporator anyhow.

I tried spraying the seat cover with an interior dye today, i'm not too thrilled. i'll let you know what i do here.

Anyhow, pictures of today's progress.

Those are for when he wants to pass out in his back seat to keep from getting a DUI/OWI. Head hanging down by the floor, drool running out. Sweet nothings behind whispered quietly until his battery dies.

That's meant for natural or blended cloth that is porous. The silly cloth in our cars (and most others) won't absorb the dye. It needs to be coated to change the color and eventually wears off the fibers.

My seat covers will be something I'll worry more about tomorrow, I think. My helper has to go to the doctor today so I'll be a busy little camper and won't be able to mess with them.

Are the seats in roby different than doby?

Are you still planning on daily driving this car?
Yes sir, someday......:nonono:

Work has sucked for almost four months now. I believe i'm about to come out of the hole though. We have five healthy bodymen working again as of three days ago. I should be slammed with work soon that'll pay for the new stuff i still need to buy.

I found this slow period has helped me since i needed so much freaking time to fix that hood. In case i haven't mentioned it, i am sooooooo glad to be done with that part!

What've you been up to Clay?
