Hell Mike, I thought you were more of a country fk or at the very least, anti-social. That's a lot of neighbors. lol
If you get a telescope, you can zoom in on demz weemenz at the old folks home.
Them: "Oh that reminds me of my late husband's car. His had wheels too."
Look Noobz made a Funny,...And you can understand it!
I'd bet that if you'd take a poll,..(And if more than 1 would reply), You'd find a large percentage of your contingency are country boys,..way more interested in having to mow ACRES for the sake of having to not deal w/ their neighbors than me.
I will have a small patch of grass in front, a 7'.6" margin down the one side, and a YTD back yard space that will be commensurately small. Behind and beside my garage and driveway will be a community garden, so that all of the neighborhood (12 homes) can grow their own veggies. It's these folks that will get the full benefit of knowing what it is to live next to me.
I can see it now....
Mr MacGregor from lot 13 planting carrots,...and I just had a typical phck up that triggers a thermo-nuclear mental meltdown in my now open garage that is only partitioned off by a measly 6' high fence.
"Breaking News! While planting carrots, Mr. MacGregor suffers head injury after being hit by flying debris, later identified as a car part....Details at 10"
I guess I'll probably have to work on my anger management issues before the move.
I purposely moved to a neighborhood "in the hood". All of the restaurants/bars/and live music venues will be w/i 2-3 miles from me. w/ at least one small coffee shop being walkable. Instead of 18,...work will be 6.5 miles away. Right now, the choice in restaurants are the same that you have. (Outback, Longhorns, Olive Garden, Applebees, etc, etc,) I don't like going out to eat w/ the typical new family where mom and dad let their children run ape-sht through out the restaurant, and the family friendly atmosphere of Hoover is conducive to just that. That coupled to the fact that my kids are grown, and I don't need the traffic that comes w/ living in the burbs, two miles away from the school system that brought us MTV's "2 a days".
Moving downtown puts me in a non-children zone, and there are NO Outbacks, NO longhorns, No Olive Gardens.....Everything is local, and independently owned.
I intend to live my life like they do in Europe. People live longer there because they walk, and they enjoy life more because of it. Being in the thick of it will promote that lifestyle. Additionally I'm going to buy a bike (the kind you pedal) when I move as well. Big city streets w/ designated bike lanes on a flat layout makes riding one easier than it is here where you're likely to get forced off the narrow, non-shoulder roads here by a texting teen ager, or a soccer mom not paying attention to the road.
So,..see Noobz,....You read me wrong. I'm not trying to get away from the neighbors,.....The neighbors try to get away from me.....
All part of the plan...
