And we have clickage.

Testing the circuit was simply a matter of getting in the input/output test area in TS and telling it to pulse JS 11.

Doing that causes the boost control solenoid to click rapidly,....Exactly what it would do to control boost.

Steve was there as usual,...and collectively we "remembered" that that section was there. So now it's just a matter of tuning.
I'll shoot for 10 p.s.i., overboost set to cut spark at 11 p.s.i.

So I have this manual boost controller coming from Summit tomorrow, clearly I'll be sending it back.......not all bad.

See,.. the actual stuff I needed to complete the fuel system only cost 8 dollars. Summit has a minimum $100.00 to get free shipping.
Adding the 85.00 the BC cost brought it up to w/i 6 bucks of the mark,...dude hits me with the "do you need a Summit fender cover/T-shirt/Hat",.... trying to get it to 100 dollars....stating that he'd hate to charge me 9 bucks to ship something that was 6 bucks away from free... I needed a funnel, so I bought a funnel.
A 6.99 funnel.
Now,....when the shipment comes tomorrow,.I'll put the boost controller back in the mail, and return it. (for free)

Genius..

How are the knees and legs holding up under all this activity?

As for me, two days spent working on the car means that I have to go back to work just to get rested up...

I'm OK actually,..I was more on my back on the creeper than anything else.
I have a floor to replace on the weekend of the 10th...Ask me then.

Ok then,...The -8 junk came in yesterday and I got after it when I got home late last night.

Yes there is a slight uphill rise, but the tank still gravity feeds to that level w/ no problem. The bends are soo much better now,..no hard 90's till it gets to the engine compartment now.
Building those short little hard tube end pieces are a pain in the ass,...you cannot get the sleeve far enough back on the now bent line to put the flaring tool on the tube w/ putting a pair of pliers on the tube sleeve and twisting it back. Putting a pair of pliers on an anodized aluminum tube sleeve leaves it scarred on its edges. Fortunately, that isn't part of the mating surfaces, so it is an acceptable compromise.
I filled the tank w/ the 15+ gallons of gas that I had stored from the previous dump,...10+ gallons were in an 36" x 24" x 6" rectangular open container that was fumigating the entire house, It was more about getting that gas out of that open container than it was about getting the fuel system back together. I had to prop the garage door against a box fan and vent the fumes out of the garage the night before last night, and I wanted that problem gone.

Of course it couldn't be w/o drama, while checking for leaks, the pump body itself was seeping....Tightening the end caps on the pump body only resulted in more seepage,...I actually loosened the end cap to get it to stop,....tell me how in the hell THAT happens.......I'm betting myself that that will not be the last time I look under the car and see that pump dripping.

I still gotta go buy some 16/14 ga wire to extend the pump circuit.... (Yeah,........I know,... I don't even have a 2' section of wire laying around anymore,...everything that was considered trash got thrown away,...everything that was a keeper is now in a box) But once I get that,..I'm back to where I was..Only now it'll be a messy pain in the ass to service those filters,....No shut-off at the tank anymore.

The internet is a weird place...I've said it before, I compare this forum to having a bunch of guys that have their garages close enough to drop by and BS for a while. The difference as it applies to my instance is that The BSer is doing all the talking, while the BSee(s) either ignore me, or go about their business silently w/o responding to anything I say....

That sound about right?

It doesn't have to be about a mustang to say something here folks.

I'm sitting here considering that in less than two weeks, I'll move from the house that for the most part has most of my life as a father tied to it. My two boys were 9 and 4 when we moved here. Now they are 25 and 20.
My wife and I went through all of the stages of their lives here,..the girl friends, the parties, everything that relates to school. The "new to them" first cars, and the "dead to them" wrecked cars.

My favorite Great Dane is buried in the back yard, There are phone numbers written all over the walls in the garage downstairs from past business contacts,..part manufacturers, (ring end gaps for who knows what engine) and friends.
To this day,..chassis measurements still visible on the garage floor from some past race car built here..( one of 6 cars built from scratch here)

And then there's the orange paint overspray....

The house has all kinds of "mike did that" improvements all over it,...when we leave here, I will leave a huge mark on how it was changed from when we got it. Just like the Monster, there isn't one part/room in this house that hasn't had something changed. It sold for full list price w/i 7 days of listing it, and it just appraised for $2,000.00 over that.

The wife asked me if I was getting antsy over the move,..and I told her that I'm OK,.....but really,.....It's gonna be a little hard to leave it..

That's a hard deal Mike, it's never easy to leave a place that has so much emotional value. But I'm sure you will put your mark on the new place just as you did this one. There is still plenty of time left to do Mike like home repairs and write parts numbers down on the garage wall in the new place.

We are listening Mike but just like your thread mine barely gets any feedback just a few likes now and then.

It is what it is I guess.

Some guys think the focus should be narrow here, but I'm a little more wide scope. If you want to engage somebody, and/or keep this an interesting diversion there's gotta be more to it than how much horsepower, or what cam should I choose threads.

A while back Noobz summed up how my input is received around here.. 'Like a spot on the floor you get accustomed to stepping over'

With you,and Steve- that's usually the case lol. So I just like your posts until I have something actually helpful to add , or a question with relevance.

My mom and my aunt's just sold my grandfather's farm. The place I lived until I moved out of the house at 18. Yeah, seriously hard. My grandfather lived there nearly 60 years. Lots of memories there.

Good luck with the move. And yes, lots of reads here. I just usually have nothing good to say, but I enjoy the threads.

Joe

I'm the same. I read. I like. I usually don't have much to say anymore. I always read your page Mike. Lots of times you have done something or are about to try things, I have no experience or less than yours lol. So I don't bother commenting. There isn't very much activity on stangnet-fox section. I still browse out of habit but ...

I'm actually going to sell my mustang. Kind of tired of "hot rods"-"wrenching" etc etc. I have a slipped disc and it really has hampered my physicality last couple years. My mind and heart isn't in it anymore either.

Best of luck on the new place. Now you can create new memories and reminisce about the "old" home.

Hey Mike, loooong time lurker here.

This thread has given me endless hours of enjoyment and the encouragement to continue to wrench on my car. I haven't said anything because I don't know enough to add much of value yet, but this thread is helping to change that. So thanks.

When it comes to the house Mike, I know where you're coming from. My boys were 3 and 5 when we moved here and now they're 19 and 21. I don't think I could leave the place without ripping out our bedroom door frame that records all the boy's heights until they got taller than me, which somehow became the finish line for them, I'm 6'3" they are now 6'4" and 6'5".

So, is there something you can take from the old house and make it a part of the new one? Then, in a small way you have taken the old house with you.

Just a thought.

Ok, ok, I'll comment.

Like others have said, I have nothing intelligent to add to the conversation.

I get the leaving of the house is hard. That's why I'm still in this big bastard I'm in right now. When my youngest (15 now) runs off to college I may move as well. I want a bigger garage.

We have our own pet cemetery as well out back. Poor animals that may have died a bit prematurely due to five kids. Hamsters spun a little too fast in one of those little plastic balls they can run around in, cats that drove themselves insane chasing their tails to get that piece of tape off them.

I guess I should be a little attached to the kids toilet as well, countless fish went to their final resting place there.

Whenever we sell though, I think it will be harder on the kids than for me. This is the physical object they relate to as home. That makes my heart ache more than my own attachment to the house.

A new house DOES have it's enticements though.....

I have read every page of the Gila build (as well as a91what's thread and countless others) and I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from many of you. More importantly, I have been encouraged to do things I would not have considered even attempting to do. As far as the cars go, I haven't felt like I've had much to offer to folks who clearly have experience and knowledge way beyond me. As for general banter, well there's still a bit of that "who the hell is the noobie" complex... I'll take this post as an invitation to be more social.
And in that vain, Awesome write up in the Junkyard mag Mike, you certainly deserve the recognition for what you've done with the Gila!!

Does he twich whenever a fan turns on now?

But see this is what I'm talking about,..when I go to a friends shop we talk about cars in general..They're racers, and I'm a street car guy,..They like Trump, and I despise the bastard, They're Chevy boys, and I'm a Ford fan,....They wanna own guns that are one step from what was issued to a soldier,..and I think the constitution needs to be ammended....It isn't 1776 anymore...
Yet we get along,...we yell about a bunch of stuff,..call each other stupid for thinking the way we do, and then go eat lunch.

That's what I was talking about this morning,..The forum is slow because you cant freaking talk about your car EVERYDAY...
And most here don't talk here unless it's about that. If more people talked, (and listened) they'd learn that there can be a common goal....

I check it out every time I see youve added something new, just dont always have anything in relation to say. On the moving topic, I can give you my point of view. When we moved from our first house (where we lived when both my sons were born), I had mixed emotions. We had been there 7 years, and I had also remodeled every single room in the house myself, as you have with your house. Once we had all the furniture out, the decor taken down, and had to come back to clean, the house felt nothing like it once did. It was empty and nearly unrecognizable without us and our stuff in it. No kids running around, dogs in the back yard, or pictures always grabbing your glance. Your new house will be a great place for a new chapter in your life. We love our new house with our growing family, and I rarely even think about the other one. A house is just that, a house. The memories are in your head where ever you go.

Remember the old saying 'you can't go back home'
You can't. I've tried.
She changed the locks

Seriously though, it looks the same, mostly, on the outside, but once you walk in the front door it will be evident its now someone elses home.
When you walk in the front door to your 'new' home it will feel right, it's your family and their 'stuff' that makes it home, not the structure.

My thread is the same, if not worse.
Post a big update, get 2-3 "likes" and crickets.
But if you post a dead snake you get 17 replies and a story about a drunk bear.
It's an odd world.

My house is currently falling apart. Plumbing disaster has not changed since Thursday. Wife has been sleeping at her parents house.
Kitchen floor needs redone this month, garage door opener just broke on the attached. My garage is a snake safe haven.
I'll be under the house again Tuesday in the lair of the snakes.
I've only owned the place 2 years now and it really is constantly something so I can imagine the sentimental value of a house over the long term. But if I remember, the new digs have a better garage right?

I'm just like some of the other guys. I don't normally have any wisdom to add to your posts so I just gain the knowledge and wisdom....and laugh at the comedy that comes from your post and click the good ole "Like" button and look forward to the next one.

I haven't had as much extra time to check-in lately because the wife and I separated so I've been busy doing everything and paying for everything in the house. She moved into an apartment because she can't handle the rent here. I'm starting to organize my time a little better so I find a spare minute or 2 every now and then. Things are also a little easier now that the kids are on summer break...no homework to help with.

Anyway, life moves on. I'm still trying to squeeze in more time to turn wrenches on the car.
