A 250 I-6 made 126 HP on it's best day. As the years eroded that power due to emmissions regs, that power fell to 99....Driving and painted, sounds like a good plan.
I really don't have the money for the drivetrain upgrade anyhow.
I will pull the mighty Essex out of it and clean it up. Change out a few of the worn parts, maybe paint the block, then I'll be riding high on 108 ponies at the crank!
After I'm driving it, then I'll be able to focus money on a drivetrain upgrade.
99 freakin HP from that lazy load layer. I think it made like 125 ft lbs of torque.
But,......
Change out a few things here,..add a little JB there,...bolt on a wheezer,....and WHOOM!!!
Maybe 350-400 HP, and like 400-450 ft lbs of torque....out of the same engine architecture???
89 Super Coupes used the same engine Dave,...and I don't think there is one damn thing different except maybe the camshaft from the one in your car..
Factory rated them at 210hp/310tq on 12 pounds of boost,...but with a die grinder,..a few sourced aftermarket pieces,...and some sweat equity,..
I'd bet I could make that engine show 300/400 w/ a turbo...
How much more power than that does anybody really need anyway?,....And why sell your soul to the belly button devil when you have a decent platform that isn't the same old peanut butter and jelly sandwich that the rest of the class is eating?
