Big day! The yard owner told me $500 for everything from the engine bay plus the computer! I'm pleased as hell about that price.

I would go out there tonight to start disassembling it, but I have to go paint a side job.

Next week I'll start plucking that t-bird engine bay clean! Woohoo!

Dave "I'm going to build a clean T-Top coupe maybe a simple 302 ".
Stangnet "...psssh hey kid...want to be unique...TurboCoupe or Supercoupe::stir:"

Dave "idk sounds expensive:thinking:"
also me:pop:

Congrats Dave on the score!

Lol, my life has had some pretty dramatic changes since I found this little blue bastard. So it makes sense it's life should change too.

Good buy for all that stuff. I've got some experience with those things. I'm glad that car is different and going to be a v6 with some powah !!!

It's the engine Dave,......it doesn't matter what you do to the rest of the car, people always seem to land on the engine. Be as detail oriented with the engine as you can be, make sure you do what you can to allow the engine to make the power that it can, and that will bring you all of the same fun I have talking about mine.

That sounds like a good deal. Would it be worth taking a battery out and hooking it up to see if the computer works?

I guess in the end, you may end up with Steve building you a MS anyway.

Kind of what I'm thinking. I want it to be very nice. I just got to figure out what that means.

Yeah, I don't feel as though the stock computer will really matter in the end.

I think it'll be easier (though cost more) to use MS and maybe finish off the rest of the car's wiring with something from Ron Francis.

Got a feeling old Steve is in hunker down mode right now, but in case he's bored waiting for that monster heading his way, hey @a91what , how much does an MS set up cost?

That all depends on what options you want Dave. Simple make the car run as little as 300$
Full sequential everything with enough i/o to watch everything (fuel pressure, oil temp, trans temp, all engine sensors, wheel speed, traction control, abs, blah blah blah list is very long.) Upwards of 2k

I think simple is nice a single micro squirt the size of an altoids can will run your engine. I however would build nothing less than an ms2 and go ms3 if you can. An assembled ms3x is 660$ the harness will run 55$ this is sequential everything you can do ls coils with this as well will look very nice.
Just an fyi everything I do with mine this one is capable of 8 times over no edis needed and that supercoupe comes setup with the crank and cam sensors needed. Perfect pairing.

Thanks Steve, i'll start reading up on this more extensively. I'm not sure i understood, You said get rid of the edis and do a cop or cnp setup? I hadn't given thought to that much yet.

I would like to move the edis to another location for "beautification" reasons. Would a cop be a good improvement over the edis system?

I hadn't checked on the cam sensor, I've just looked over the crank sensor so far. Does this have a cam sensor? I thought the edis system got all it's timing information from the crank sensor.

Today is a landmark day for me. The red car formerly known as Doby left my garage finally today.

That was the first step in several for shuffling things. Next is to get the red car's engine and all the rest of the crap out of the storage unit. That opens the engine stand for the sc engine.

This will happen some later today after I get through working, then finish off in the next couple days.

At that point I rent the double size storage unit ($25 more each month). All of the car's (I no longer have to refer to colors since I am now just a one fox man) stuff will be put in that storage unit. THEN I GET THE CAR OUT OF THE YARD!!!! Maybe a week, could be the following week for one simple reason.

I'll pay for my new to me supercoupe engine and start tearing apart the t-bird engine bay this coming week.

So, lazy bones, what am I doing tomorrow? Rearranging the garage to have my little sc engine workshop area. I'm going to get a nice set of shelves to put the parts on as I disassemble the engine in a neat and orderly fashion.

Last, but certainly not least. I need to buy more tools, darn, darn, darn:jester:. I'm going to get a nice set of cordless tools so tearing down the t-bird will be easier. I've wanted a good set for awhile, now I need it.:nice:

I'm actually getting ready to do stuff that might be considered "progress". I had to look up the meaning of the word since it's been so long since I performed that action.

This has the ability to run logic level coils, Ls coils fire with a 5v "logic" signal meaning they have power on them all the time and the 5v makes them fire. Alot of newer coils work this way, I can get you part numbers and options for this kind of setup. However the Ls truck coil setups look good valve cover mount and have a harness plug you can use to connect them. If I could mine would be done this way.

You can still use the edis if you want, but letting the ms3 do it will allow for full spark control. Edis will only allow fuel cut rev control, not using it means you can have flame throwing launch control or flat shift tuned in.

You can put a timing light on every cylinder with the ms3 doing the work and trim each coil so they fire exactly when they are supposed to. Each injector has it's own trim tables as well....

Cam sensor is needed by the way for sequential injection so it should have it.

I've got a lot of voodoo to learn, seams like there was a time I was going to use a Quickfuel carburetor on something I thought I used to have. I understood that tech fairly well. Oh well, time to tear open that cocoon and become the butterfly I was meant to be!

There you go Noobz, I thought you might like that one.

Stay safe there Steve, thanks for your help.

Another tuning option may be PiMP on Stinger Performance. They have paid Tech Support on their forums to answer tuning questuons.

I believe it was MS3 based but no relation to DIYTune.

They do have tech support but it's the same products same hardware and software, I do like how they build them pnp with the ms3. It would be like me leaving starting my own forum and reselling my own built ms3 ecu's.
Hmm there's a profitable idea....:chin
