Progress Thread My centrifugal ppl, how’s this deal?

That’s a good question! I have a friend who uses sct and said he could burn a chip for me to tune it. Now I have no clue on any of this tune stuff, what I need etc etc. I’ve seen ppl talk about the A9L is that something I need or is that a stock computer that our Cars already have?
If you're using a buddy to help you burn a chip and he'll do it as a hook up then I highly recommend that you get everything installed the way you want it and get it tuned. Going back and forth to him may end up exhausting your connection with the person. Get your HCI set up and your fuel components and get it dialed in. Later when you're ready for boost you can then get it re-tuned.

Put the crack pipe down bro!!! Stay away from the 60# injectors until the moment that the engine requires it. Your 19# injectors will be just fine with the added intake and TB. You should just wait until you have your entire HCI ready to go so you can do all these steps at once. Patience is important in order to get it correct. Only use injectors and fuel pump that is sufficient for what your CURRENTLY running.

As far as the fans go. Trim tabs like you mentioned. I ran small small diameter black hose that I cut open around the perimeter of the fan shroud to help seal it to the radiator. To attach the fans I used a very unpopular method, radiator zip ties! They work just fine for me. I'll get you some pic's in a moment if I can find some on my work computer.
Awe man a little crack on the weekends never hurt nobody!! I always do that my mind kinda runs in several directions. Probably why my brake swap to so long bc i started doing 3 different areas at once. Any ways so you just split the tubing down the middle and let it cover the edges to insulate and cushin it kind of like how the black Magic’s extreme has that on theirs. Wonder if I can find something like that at HD? If radiator ties are frowned on then what else could one use

I'm not sure what your overall build goals are but 60lb injectors may be over kill. Stock short block with cam of choice, 190 11r heads and gt40 intake with shorty headers n/a should be able to use 24lb injectors I would think.
The 60lb were not intended to go on my current set up as is but for my future set up once I got everything, heads, rockers, new cam, and choice of blower which I’m still undecided ever since I saw that small run of KBs happening. . I was just wondering what you all thought of these I posted and which you all would run or should I just stick with frpp ev6 60lbs.

I imagine HD sells tubing, I got mine from the auto parts store and saw some at Ace Hardware also.

As far as the 60# injectors go I'm not sure if they'll work or not. Your typical HCI 302 can get you about 300rwhp, a little more with a custom cam and the TFS190's so maybe 320-330rwhp. Add on a supercharger, depending on how much boost you run, you're easily in the 450+rwhp range. Lately I've been seeing many stock blocks handle well over 500rwhp and live. Check out "project stock bottom end" on FB, his car is impressive and he's putting about 800hp to the ground. With all that said you'll need to ballpark how much HP you'll be making to know what will be a properly sized injector. From the charts, for a boosted engine, 60# injectors will be good up to 626hp at the flywheel, about 500-530rwhp at 85% duty cycle. So the question is, how much PSI do you plan to run? What is your HP goal? You may need a larger injector however, at 500rwhp, you're near the limits of the stock fuel rail and fuel lines (especially fuel return line).

Hmm yeah gonna have to look more into it. I tried to look what black magic uses on their extreme fan but I wonder if something like this would work?

GTFO with not big enough. Those injectors will send a significantly larger amount of fuel than what is necessary to split that block right down the middle.

People really like to over-estimate injector size a lot lately it seems. I run 42 lb injectors, stock fuel pressure regulator, and 480 HP / 560 Ftlb @ wheel through a stock fuel rail in a boosted application. I still have more room.

Also... all this talk about these super high capacity injectors that few people ever need, often require high impedance injector driver in order to operate.

I would suggest mapping the combination out with whomever you plan to tune the thing. Pushing a stock block to the point where 60 lb injectors are "necessary" is just suicide.
 
Do I need to do anything with the circled red area or with my new fan controller will bypass that? I saw a video on YouTube and the guy took that out and dremeled it bigger for whatever reason

Picked these guys up, along with some TF 1.6 rockers and some pushrods. Now to decide on my cam. Should I leave my F cam or swap to the trick flow stage 1 or 2. A guy I’ve been talking to states that the B cam is a much better fit for these heads. What’s your all opinion on that? What would you do!!!

That’s what I thought, now I know custom is the the way to go. For now though I’m gonna get everything on my block and see what I can do with it, I am looking to pick up a new dart 302 SHP from a guy near me here in Austin with two of them new in boxes which he wants 1850 for to build a new heart, stroke it and then go custom grind. Just trying to see my F cam will be ok and leave it, or if switching to one of the trick flows like a mentioned would be better fit.

I don't think it'll be worth switching from the F cam to the TFS. I'd get a custom cam. It sounds like you're building quiet the quality engine so why cheap on the cam and lose HP?

Imagine telling people about engine combo that's in your beautiful Foxbody:

Ha ha well the Stroker build won’t be for awhile but I’d like to pick up the dart and at least have it, especially at that price and maybe I can get a couple of hunnits cheaper with the good ol’ I got cash in hand and I’ll come right now and pick it up. At this point I have the motor exposed with the intake and covers off so I couldn’t resist to not buy these beauts and pull the stock heads out and slap them on. Yes though you are right and once I get the Stroker block going, and then put these onto that block as well at least I’ll have a reason to go custom grind for that build, and then sell you my F cam. As for that B cam comment idk what that guy was thinking. He knows a lot about cars, way more than I do or ever will, and builds plenty of them, but even I gave

My comments were mainly aimed toward the built Dart engine. If you're going to slap these heads on right now since it's not that much more effort then I say run your F cam and enjoy it that way until you reach your next phase of your build. The F cam is a decent forced induction cam due to longer duration and minimal valve overlap but seems out of place in such a high dollar quality build you're planning. It'll be right at home in my stock 302 and would allow my twin screw to breath a little better on the exhaust side of things :D

I currently have some old MAC shorty headers from idk maybe late 90s not sure, don’t know what size etc. kind of in between sticking with shorties or going long tubes, but not sure between the 1 3/4 or the 1 5/8 don’t really know what the real difference is, then there is that whole 2.5 vs 3 in. collector

I would just keep it simple for now and go with the 1 5/8 shorties. The main reason being once you go with more CID and boost you'll likely need to step up in size. With the amount of power you plan on making I think full length headers will not be needed at all.
