That engine is absolutely unique... and if someone rides in the monster they'd give you top dollar for it. All the average person needs to see its oil pressure readings and seat of the pants feel. Youd probably get atleast half of what you want for the whole car... throw in the transmission and the brain box you've slaved over and you have a busy about turn key test rod option.

The biggest issue would be finding a buyer that wants a " one off " engine. They are out there though.

I was lax somewhere is all I know...the last engine came apart so cleanly...... I don’t understand what I woulda done different this time...I used 302 rod bearings this time as opposed to the 250 bearings because they were narrower. There was evidence that the old bearings were riding on the journal radius, so using 302 bearings would’ve eliminated that. I saw a warning sign that something was wrong when I changed the gauges, and swapped out the oil sending units,...there was metal debris on the tip of the old sending unit...
Probably an oil passage that was full of something from the machining process I guess....how do you know about this kinda stuff anyway?

I’m laying in bed wondering about the journal bearing on the turbo....wondering how much junk was gonna be sitting on top of the oil restrictor to that bearing....( there is a -4 hose that goes to -4 inlet that has a .060 hole in it)...I figured that by due process’that fitting should be plugged the fck up since the hole was so small, and those pieces looked so big...so at 6:30 am this morning I go down there and remove the hose to examine it....

No debris. ( but that is filtered oil....so that makes sense)

On one hand this is a 250.....these are the you tube engines that people drain all of the oil out of, and put a brick on the gas pedal in order to be able to blow them up...what’s a little metal in the grand scheme of things?

I’ve ran the engine...It may be prudent to buy another filter and cut that thing open to see how bad this last one got contaminated

When i rebuilt my 66 Thunderbird with 390 flat tappet it had been some time since i built a motor. I was unaware they took zinc out of conventional oil. during cam break in i completely wiped out the cam, i mean i had lifters that were a 1/4" shorter! I said f-it and i pulled the intake and removed cam and fushed 5 gal of kerosene through the motor to flush out what i could. put on a filter and used a drill to pump oil thru the engine drained and changed filter then repeated a few times. put it all back together with new cam etc and added zinc and used oil with zinc and crossed my fingers.... 4k miles later and all is still great.

I found the Monster

If only...

If only I wouldn't have seen all of that sht in the oil,..id be absolutely in hog heaven with this thing at 7 psi.

Took the lot mgr for a small "ride" to show him what the car was like to be in under power..
I tell him "this car will get a little dicey under full throttle" and ask him if he's gonna be ok with me " feeding my dog" through 2nd gear...
He says he was.
I ask him if he'd ever hear a turbo spool, or been in a powerful car w/o traction control....
"No, and No"
I tell him if he shts himself, it's not my fault.
He agrees to my terms..
I stop,...put a little throttle against the brakes and stand on it......

And the monster just freakin screams.......

I lift, and my lot guy is laughing like a little child on an amusement park ride...

"Gawd Damn!".....remind me to bow down to you the next time you walk by!...This thing is freakin A-Mazin!

I I said

" I will, I know, and thanks"

Dropped him off, brought the GM home,...grabbed a liquid Monster, wrote this, and now I'm going back to work...

In my electric blue dork mobile.

This is the motor you need for the Monster:

That would be Epic!

Listening to it just "Hummmmmm" down the road.

Meeh......
I've always hated that.
Had a friend w/anF350 that used to put people in a cloud of dense black smoke. He thought it was funny.
Had I been the guy driving the car that he covered up with that cloud,..Idve been pissed.

That's mostly tune though. You could do 600 Hp and 1000 ft/lbs TQ and probably have clean exhaust. :)

Anyway... Just thought a power plant like that would look and sound cool in the Monster.

Well the wife is on the road tonight...I called her a little while ago.

"Have you cancelled the rooms in Gulf port yet?" I ask her..
She says "Nope".
I say "Good cause I think I want to try and make the drive in the Monster"
She says..." I know you so well"

I'm gonna check the filter this weekend,....I'm probably gonna change that brand new oil at the end of the month.
One of two things happened/is happening in my engine...either I: (A) Put a dirty engine together....or (B)..
The engine is eating itself from the inside.

Obviously there is no way to know this, but there is more than one way to find out.
One involves Steves way....the other involves Mike's way......driving it till it fails.

Today's joy ride was a 2 gear, 6200 rpm full throttle romp where everything returned to normal afterwards...
I expect the oil filter should look like holy hell even after what I just did if the engine is coming apart...but I gotta admit...it's not like I'm an expert on driving a car with an future engine failure looming,..so I'm far from scientific in my thought process here.

I know that my stupid little oil water seperator is working famously,....there is now about 1" of water in that tiny little mason jar..With just this small amount of drive time behind me since installing it. Tomorrow, I get another piece of Chevrolet stuff to try and assist that process by adding a 01 Camaro electric vacuum pump to that system, and remove the line that is currently plumbed into the intake stream in front of the turbo.

I know I've got to be one of the most waffling individuals any of you know, and for those that have been paying attention....I'm struggling with a bad hand of cards here..

I know that I made that engine work, and as long as I have it,...it's my engine of choice.
At the same time, I know that it adds zero to what the car is worth to somebody else. But,...
As long as it's mine, I want that engine to be the monsters engine.
I also know I'm gonna sht a brick if I decide to drive this thing 5 hours straight, and the engine comes apart 300 miles from home....ill make that decision about 3 weeks from tomorrow.

Additionally, the stupid turbo is spooling at very little throttle...I've actually gotta keep a very light foot if I want to keep it out . I'm not sure where the water meth is activating, but that stuff comes on at seemingly minimal boost, and I'm thinking at a barely cracked throttle opening, I don't want a buttload of water spraying into the engine.

Need me to take a look?

@a91what
Oh,....and here I thought you'd be covered up to your armpits in oil working on the bottom of an engine over your head...

Yeah,......when we had that system on the old engine last year, it was triggered by some kpa figure, or boost number, but the old turbo was slower to spool...I can hear this turbo spooling in low gear while I'm just casually trying to get up to the speed limit....don't let me barely put my foot in the throttle in high gear to keep the car at speed,...it'll be in boost....
I'd rather see this stuff start to come on with a variable based on tps...lets keep it off unless the throttle is at 50% or more..
What do you think?

And I think I am going to pull the engine, why fuss with it on my back.
That sounds good, alpha load it is then. I can do an OR function if needed.... to keep it safe. Tell me what you want it to do and load the tune so I have the current copy

I still want boost to be the " if". I just want the "and" to be throttle position.
