I dunno. It all could have used a little more MooHorn, Drew.

But doggone it, haven't we all Hounded him enough already....

Who here plans to drive their fox body over a significant distance?

Significant in this case means several hundred miles one way. Now that I'm sitting in the comfort of my home, and get to look at the calendar, I realize that there is a little over a week remaining before I'm sposed to get in the Monster and drive him to Biloxi, ms.
316 miles.

Google maps says that it's a little over 5 hours....( or a little over 4 days, if I'm walking..:cautious:)

It all seems pretty stupid to me to be able to build something like this, and not be able to share it for fear of diving it...Everytime I'm driving the thing locally, I think " it actually goes down the road really nicely, what is there to worry about?" ( for a modified fox anyway).
Uhhhh....a bunch of stuff actually.
A belt driven oil pump that has a gilmer belt just isn't at the local AZ...( don't matter anyway, by the time I'd get that I may have broken, or lost the existing belt...the engine would be dead.)
The car is not " rain tolerant".
The wipers work, but work like they came off of a 1931 Model A...(Short sweep, in adequate wipe pattern,...something I did to make the 90 Mustang wiper motor fit the fairmont wiper system don't jive)
Then there's that filter hangin down there..:dead:.

The internal nagging in my brain that would have me wondering if the engine is really headed for a come apart based on the oil change scare...

:chinWonder what the tow Bill would be to get that car back home if it died somewhere between here, and there?

I've got this weekend coming up to decide...All I really gotta do is put the higher pressure caps on the rear rads, fill the cooling system back up, find the cut off wire that used to trigger the fan, or the pump and re-run the leg to the fans that I'm now using for the water meth system...start it and run the thing back up to temp to see if they'll hold pressure.

I mean they're freakin radiators....they should be able to hold the same pressure that the front one does.

I keep a AAA subscription since i drive my 66 T-Bird and 87 Fox all the time. On my 66 i have no wipers and only use rain-x and it seems every time i drive to the goodguys show in columbus about 180 miles it rains. The rain-x does its job and everything is fine.

Went down this morning after making my list....took the rocker panel off, took the kick panel off, took the end cap off of the dash...

Looking for the cut wire so that I could add the necessary new wire to it to get the fans running on the rear rads.

Cept,....There was no cut wire.

Didn't make no sense.

I poke around at the rear where all of the relays are.....I've fused every circuit with dongles.

( Maybe I should check the fuses Ya think?)

Blown. The 20 amp that used to be dedicated to the fans had left the building. I don't know what caused it to blow,...I think I shorted a wire when I was changing stuff around. Maybe I did,.......maybe I didn't.

I replace that fuse,....and flip the switch...........fans. Both fans whirring away.....daring any water that goes through those little radiators to even think about staying hot.

I dub them the " Coolinators"

It's a struggle to get those stupid little radiator caps on the stupid little radiators, but I manage.

Now, all that's left is to fill the cooling system, run the engine, and get the water hot. Unless I add some sort of shutoff fail safe valves, should those little bastards rupture on the road now that they have to hold 20.58 psi. ( 1.4 bar)

But what fun would that be?

I just drove a bone stock 1990 F250 4x4 with a dragging front brake from Longmont, CO to Marion, IA straight through last Saturday. 810 miles only stopping for gas, seized front caliper for 600 of the 810 miles, and its in my driveway until it rusts to pieces like the Ranger did. 316 miles aint no thang.

Tell me more! Gas? Diesel?

My car will be a road trip car. I used to drive my last mustang all over the place from maryland. Even been to AL and CT. If I can't drive it.... I don't want it.

My previous car had a decent amount of work done to it... and it was carbed. Drove everywhere.... Only made me drive from the GA, SC line to MD without a clutch once. :nonono:

Everybody thinks their car will be a road trip car...
Remember this car?
Mycar_zps9e7ae971.webp

Radiator started leaking 300 miles from home while at MW12..
This car had a basically stock drivetrain out of an 02 GT....it was a white knuckle ride the whole way home...hoping that the constant anti-freeze smell I was getting blasted with didn't turn in to an all out melt down.

The Monster makes this thing seem like a tinker toy compared to its level of complexity.

Everyone gets jitters before a big event Mike.

You need to do this. It’ll be like a special bonding time with a grown up son.

Get an extra belt now and put it in an emergency kit in the trunk.

Go for the ride, it’ll make the monster your car instead of just a piece of artwork.
