Progress Thread Budget 89 GT

micro squirt guys, there is a lead coming off my module for a fan, is this a trigger wire for a relay im guessing? i used to use a relay with a sensor that was in the back of the intake.

also if it is does anyone have the wiring diagram for the relay? not sure if it needs to be ground or power activated. i looked on the microsquirt forum at microsquirt.com but it looks pretty dry over there. no posts since like 2017

All ECU connections for relay control, solenoid control ect.. are always LOW; this means they take the circuit to ground. unless specifically stated in the documentation or built to do so they are LOW, only under special circumstances like in the case of a Honda Vtech solenoid is the circuit a HIGH side driver; meaning it delivers 12v power.

These outputs can only provide around a 3 amp load so they are suitable to trigger a 5 pin relay or the like.
just google bosch 5 pin relay for a diagram

make sure you fuse the relay.

+1 on autolite 23s. That's what I run. The sensor in your car should be ground triggering too. Should be easy peasy.

In tuner studio for mspnp2 there is. Not sure on the microsquirt. If it has an output for it then theres a command for it. Steve, can give more insight.

you can do so much with MS its crazy, the same microsquirt you are going to use to run your engine, when loaded with different firmware can be an expansion module or even a transmission control module that wires to the main megasquirt unit that is running the engine over canbus. So if you ever decide to upgrade to the MS3 the microsquirt will still have a use if you need it to.

I do a full tuning class if you are interested PM me for details.

yeah for now. ill upgrade to a tial or something sooner or later. id like to run 10lbs. I think if all goes well ill upgrade my tuning capabilities and do a boost solenoid. i think the MS3 you can tune with one if not not mistaken? for now im gonna go the cheap route then upgrade as i get some cash.

i was reading about it a few days ago im pretty sure it does. i think you can have ike a ramp up in the boost so you dont spin so bad coming out of the hole. kind of like a boost leash
you can set it up many ways by MPH is how we setup @wiseguyk EBC you can do it by gear as well. However since the micro has no VSS input for MPH you will have to set it up as a target table referencing TPS% vs RPM

Geez I missed a lot on your thread! Looking great man, things are moving along quickly! :D

Like Steve said, I have the Stinger EBC wired up to my MS3 and boost by speed or gear is pretty badass. I also do the fan control to trigger my MK-VIII fan and it works like a charm. MS3 makes it all easy peasy though.

Looks like you'll be getting into cold side plumbing here soon, if you need any pics on intercooler mounting or anything let me know.

Oh and congrats on the wedding/honeymoon too!

awesome thanks man! ill let you know, once my valve covers are on gonna do some wiring or cleaning up wiring i guess. then put my radiator and stuff in then start on cold side. hoping this thing will fire up on the stock tune in the MS to at least idle and let me check for leaks

Ah yes, wire tucking is fun stuff lol Good luck, it's tedious but the end result is well worth it I think.

As I was flipping back and catching up on your progress, your turbo drain caught my eye. Did you make your own with threaded fittings, or is that what On3 ships now with their kit? Just curious

I'm sure @a91what Steve probably has a decent base tune for you but I could also share the one my PiMPxs shipped with if you wanted to check it out. It's MS3 tune file so it not everything would port over to the microsquirt but I'm sure a good amount of the settings would be applicable and might help get you pretty close at least for the initial start.

Almost 0 settings will port over unfortunately. Remember you are also sequential injection.

And yes I do have many base tunes.
