I like the originals better too. Cars coming along Mike. Cant wait to see what the engine looks like back in the bay.

me too. I’m trying not to rush though. I want to get everything I can done before I drop it in. Easier to work in the bay plus I need to flip the car 180* in the garage and easier to push it around when it’s light.

I almost want to plop it in to see what it looks like, then take it out.

here’s where we sit tonight...

Yeah man, Id be thinking about doing the same thing.

Picked up an 03-04 cobra power steering cooler.

I thought it would bolt in, but appears it hits the condenser mounting brackets. I can either modify it to fit, or buy a cheap double stacked plate cooler instead. Hmm...

I bought a 94-98 cobra PS cooler as well. It’s a little smaller, so might fit better. It was dirt cheap, so I’ll likely flip the 04 cobra cooler on eBay.

I agree with your decision for the gauges! Awesome work going on here with great attention to detail. Also, look at that green grass! It’s not winter down there yet?!

don’t let the grass fool you. Winter is here. Its gone dormant but I guess my winter fertilizer is keeping it somewhat green a tad longer.

this was OCt 30

Fortunately, that one pretty much missed us. Atleast, I think it did. I’ve been traveling so much for work I’ve lost track. Anyway, the car looks good. And the grass! Beautiful grass.

Reinstalled the second steering rack. This one went much more smoothly. Got a new set of o-rings for the MM steering rack fittings. I also was able to match up the sizes to standard ptfe O-rings. They are -014 and -015 o-rings. Unfortunately they are sold in bulk, so no real savings buying them from McMaster carr, but at least now you have 25 of them.

Rack install pretty straightforward. I installed it without the tie rod inners. Made it easy to measure the rack protrusion from each side and then center up the steering rack. The MM shaft is fully clockable, so it’s as perfectly centered as I can get it.

got the bumpsteer kit mocked up too. I’ll need to measure bumpsteer to determine my spacer stackup.

not quite sure what my next step is. So much to do but trying to do it in the right order of what makes sense. Guess I’ll drink on it.

Got in the garage a bit and got to work. Nothing to take pics of though. I got my brake lines sll mounted up on the outer frame rails using nice rubber clips. Installed the new MM braided soft lines and got the mounting brackets bolted on.

installed the calipers and cycled the suspension up and down, left and right to check for interference. All good.

now if my MC would show up....

I decided to toss a wheel on. I definiteky cannot use the rotors with the black painted centers unless I had black wheels. I don’t, so if I go with the ‘14 GT rotors I’ll likely get a set like my cobra rotors in zinc-coating. Anyway...pics

car is still in the air. No official 4-wheel touchdown just yet

Definitely a tight squeeze. I don’t think I can use stick on weights. I might have to use a hammer on weight on the outside.

and yea, I will be going aftermarket wheels at some point. I have a set picked out. Just not right now. I do like the ‘98 cobra wheels so that’s going to be my next wheel. The old wheels don’t clear the brembos

Figures I take a 6-day weekend for thanksgiving, and these show up the Monday after I go back to work.

Anyway.

grabbed a Spectra Premium AC condenser. I TRIED to get a NOS unit considering all my other ac stuff is NOS, but the last unit I saw was for sale 2-3 years ago for $500.

I also grabbed another can of R-12. I have some searches saved on eBay so when a can pops up cheap, I buy it.

I have my EPA license to buy this, but not one person has ever asked me

Decided to rebuild my AC compressor. The clutch bearing was toast. I ended up finding NOS A/C clutch components for this, but i may sell those off and swap to SN95 style clutch conponents, which are cheaper and have rubber inserts that cushion the hit a little better. I’ll update on that once I figure out my parts.

but, I bought the rebuild parts from https://www.shopcenturyautoair.com/store/c31/Denso_6-Series_Compressors.html. About $50 for these. Should fully rebuild my nippondenso 6P148A compressor. Bet you’ve never seen that done before.

It looks like a lot of seals, but these kits have a lot of overlap. So not every o-ring will be used since I will have duplicates.

I can post part numbers later on.

Oh yeah. What else?

oh yeah this.

I didn’t open it yet. Not really applicable to this build. Plug the part number into Google if you are curious. I fell in love with this look and noticed the price was dropping like a rock. When it hit $200 I snatched one up. I’ll squirrel it away and maybe use it one day ;)

Curious as to what constitutes cheap for R12...I bought several cans in the spring to recharge my stock ‘86 A/C system, and it wasn’t cheap. I also didn’t know you were supposed to have a license to buy it.

Curious how your condenser fits,I had to drill out the rivets on the bottom feet and rerivet it them in the correct spot for it to sit level, even had new rubber isolators under it.I don't recall the manufacture of the condenser at the moment, would need to look it up,want to say Four Seasons. The construction is slightly different than what you have there.

cheaper in bulk obviously, but when it gets down to about $25-30/can shipped, I’ll scoop them up. It typically runs $35-40/can shipped

I’ve probably made 5-8 individual purchases of R-12 on eBay. Not one person has ever asked me for a copy of the license.

I probably have enough to recharge my car 3 times.

kinda why I bought it now before I really need it. I want to see how the fit is.

I bought it through Amazon, which as you know has a great return policy. I can just drop it off at. Location 10 min from my house if there’s an isssue and I want to get another brand
