1993 LX 5.0 dies after ignition parts replacement

I went threw three, yes three bad brand new dist.from oh oh ohreillieys.
All there pip and modules come from China so its a hit or miss.
I ordered a dragon fire dist.and its been about a year and even though its R.o.c. made its still working fine.
What dist.did you get?

Easy way to test the PIP is pull the distributor, reconnect the TFI and then turn the ignition to the "ON" position. Spin the distributor by hand and you should hear the injectors pulse. If not then that is a clue that it very well could be bad. The aftermarket distributors (even the rebuilt ones) are not near the quality of the OEM ones. If the PIP is bad get a known good one and rebuild the distributor.

Standard Ignition is probably the best new part manufacturer for the PIP if you want to go that route.

Made this vid just to show you. This is one of the 5 tests you do with the meter… the top 2 tfis are brand new. The bottom one is a used tested good unit. The top 2 fail right out of box.

My LTD is running the original 84, 3.8 V6 TFI. 5-6 years ago, had a hot start issue and went crazy with every TFI I could get my hands on, and even several remote TFI setups. Old non V-8 TFI ran the best out of all of them (including a brand new Motorcraft, at the time).
