Tkx installation problem

I could not get mine on before I installed it on the engine
DSCF0879.webp
into the car.... Neighbor came over and both of us could not get it on.. Even used the cherry picker to hold it up ( old man idea) and could not get it.... Been a few minutes for me but I did alot of these back in the day....
I finally took off the bell housing and attached the trans to it and installed it as a bell/Trans unit .... It slid right in...... yeah, I don't get it either, but I took it as a win.......
Did you index the bell housing?

Seems like all your ducks are in a row.

You did use the pilot spline tool to make sure everthing was lined up when clutch as installed? Dont think anyone else mentioned it.

Well that rules out the car missing the manual trans tunnel hump. Was pretty sure I saw it in the pictures but wanted to ask. Which shifter are you using?

So you have the stock Tremec shifter on there right now? If that’s the case I cannot provide much more help as I removed the Tremec shifter and installed a MGW before the TKX was installed. Not sure if there is a height difference between the two on the base.

ahh yes im using the stock one for now... its almost 3 inches below the opening without the shifter on.... seems too low...but dont see any other way to solve it.... suprised not seeing any others complaning about this in any of my searches.

If the tranny is nearly hitting the floor, it's good to go. There's nothing else you can do. My car is a '94 so I can't compare shifter position. The only thing that can raise the shifter position is the crossmember and mount. Yours looks correct.

Thanks for this... so odd though why everyone seem to have theirs flush pretty much in every video and photo I've seen on the installation.
