‘83 T-top Coupe - It’s Too Cold

Ok, ok, I know this thread is supposed to be about a theoretical fox coupe with t-tops.

But my now ex just told me she’s dating someone else.

Imagine, if you will, a man, a good man by all accounts, stuck in a quagmire, nay, a pit of quicksand. His struggles against the rising sticking mass are useless, he’s going under, his eyes flash one last time prior to sinking under the depths of the vial goo of “marital bliss”.

Then the great super hero, Divorceman dives in to rescue him and pull his wrecked body from the vial consequences of a lopsided allegiance to a narcissistic bonding that has been recognized by the state as a legally bonding called “marriage”.

Your hero breathes again, “Ah, fresh air, is that..........freedom?......freedom to choose whatsoever I shall do?

Yes, yes it is our poor little beaten and weatherworn friend.....YES, YES IT IS!!!!!!!

My arms are above surface, dare I say I begin to hope? I’m floundering towards solid ground, cooked steak, by cooked steak. Smoked brisket by smoked brisket I get a little closer to what may be called a, “real and actual life”.

Today my ex asked me if the kids have told me that she’s dating someone.......................................................

That expression I have in the picture above is an exact duplicate when I heard this. The one exception is I had a Jim Beam Devil’s Cut I was drinking.

The above hero was more than rescued to merely live as divorceman was apt to let him! The above hero has arisen like a phoenix to drink copious amounts of dirty bastard beer on a night before work to celebrate, nay not celebrate, to revel, rejoice, leap up and down in frenzied dances (Sure, said hero would have preferred this news on a night that didn’t involve a work day following).

Your hero (ok, maybe i’m not your personal hero, maybe i’m nobody. I’m alright with that) has been freed!!

So, it’s warmer, maybe I’ll work on Booger this next weekend.

Once the papers are signed, it's adios for me. I don't care in the slightest if she's dating or living with 30 cats. There's only about a 3% chance I'd answer if she called. And that's only because I was hoping it was about my car's extended warranty.

I get how others are different, but that's my logic. The opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference.

I really wish you the best, Dave. You deserve it.

I wish I could describe for you the web that was set up for me in case of this situation. Just suffice to say, i’ve broken free.

Ok, Allen started posting about things related to a fox body that’s his……..damnit………guess I should do something, huh?

So it seems the best I’ve done for Booger over the last two and a half years is to light a small fire under his ass and pat him affectionately periodically to let him know I haven’t forgotten him.

I finally got my middle son on his own about three weeks ago. He’s got his own apartment and everything. I’m actually quite proud of him for doing this. he’s come a long way from his drug rehab days.

All that said for this. I‘m now a real “empty nester”. It’s just me and that stupid :leghump:ing cat.

I’ve tried cooking lots of new things for entertainment. That was ok for awhile.

This weekend has been an absolute festival of boredom though for me. What has become of my life? What am I supposed to do now?……..I’m such a moron.:demon:

To follow up on my last post that I hit the wrong button too early and posted it too early.

I’m thinking about my rear end.

Sure, I’m getting older and you may think I’m bringing out the delicate subject of hemorrhoids………I understand your line of thinking and don’t want you to think that my hemmies are real happy with me all the time, but that’s a whole different thread to talk about….

Let‘s talk about an IRS. Like, forever ago, that was the next thing I was going to work on. Other than a brace between the frame rails where the upper control arm mounts were.

I know I’ve discuseed this in the past a little, but the time is here to do things with it. I’m thinking I’m going to do more than just a hard tail on it. I think a hard nose (so to speak) is called for. I think the factory would have done this had they really given serious thought to it. Look at this photo. It’s the frame of my IRS.

The lower (rear) attachment points, as you know, are about to be cut off for the hard tail. I’m thinking more about the forward attachment points, where it bolts into the torque boxes.

Why would I want to keep that bushinged attachment? Why wouldn’t I want to do a “hard nose”, so to speak.

Just like I’ll cut off the upper rear mount that attach to the frame and replace them with a solid mount. Why wouldn’t I do that with the front? What’s the point to the forward bushing when you have a hard tail?

And, frankly, why would I just want a single bolt holding that area? Wouldn’t it be good to build a box that I weld to the IRS frame that would have dual bolts on each side for additional rigidity? It seems to me that any flex in this area is just my wish to have wheel hop.

That said, I’ve already welded in the chassis support system on both sides of the car, so replacing the torque box with something more solid would be just a little bit more than challenging. Doesn’t the torque box deserve more than just the usual torque box reinforcement plates?

Help my brain to understand.
