01 gt vs Lt1

im new to the stang world but i just bout a used 01 gt 5 speed with theses mods cai,4.10 gears, magnaflow exhaust, computer chip, and my bro a Gm fan, has a pair LT1's the one im going to run has these mods corvette maf, Lt4 km, k&n cai, magnaflow cat back, pcmforless programming, msd 6al & coil, 160 t-stat, underdrive pulleys, air foil, 1.6:1 roller rockers & a stock 3.23 rear gear what are my chances of beating his car i want to show him that he invested in the wrong car twice.. the 396 i will never have a chance against it runs 10's all motor but the other Lt1 i should have a chance against right???

You will probably get beat,sorry to say.The only chance lies with your 4.10s vs his 3.23 which will hurt him pretty bad in the 1/4 but with those other mods he will probably pull on you,probably not very fast but IMO he will pull...goodluck anyways.Post back whatever happens and let us know.BTW it also depends on both your cars milage as well as his.If he has like 150K+ and you have like 50-75K then you may beat him.

If you can drive you should be able to beat him. You will get him out of the hole pretty good and lt1's dont catch up as fast as the ls1. I have never had a problem holding an lt1 off, now ls1's will usually catch me by 100 a little sooner or later depending how good of a launch i get. I have never been able to hold an ls1 off past 110, but who cares because how many times do you get over 110 on the street.

With 4.10s, you'll be getting to 5th and running out of gear plenty quick on street tires. Run 'til 100.

The only mod on the LT1 worth anything is the 1.6 RR. And thats what 5HP?

Who runs a Corvette MAF? A bigger MAF on LS1's was a waste and usually robbed HP rather than gained HP. Are the LT1 Vettes MAF sensors even different, I can't remember.

At that weight the car should be close to 12s. With the 3.23 gears it is either a 93 6 speed or a 94-97 auto.

Lt4 km increases timing due to the less sensitive knock module, k&n cai adds HP due to the restrictive stock elbow, magnaflow cat back flows way better than the stock Z28 stuff, pcmforless programming (He may have more done if he needed tuning), msd 6al & coil (The LT1s are notorious for optispark problems and bad spark, this helps them run smoother), underdrive pulleys work well, air foil splits the air around the two throttle body butterflies, 1.6:1 roller rockers work well too but some go into valve float with these and the springs have to be replaced. With him already having a 396 I would expect that he has some other stuff done to this car especially with the tuning.

hey cody the corvette maf is not from a lt1 vette it's actually a aftermarket one thats has the ends & electrical connection to hook up to the lt1 intake hoses & factory harness but its for a 98-01 vette it's 80mm maf..

he says he got the programming done becasuse htpp III suck he went to the track in stock form and ran faster without it then with it..

and lead sled you are correct it's a 95 A4 he wont tell me what kind of times it runs all i know is about the 396 but the other one im not sure because he keeps quite he street races alot and doesn't want people to know what he has he tells me if anyone ask tell them it's stock..

Actually with the 4.10s you'll probably rape him by 2-3 cars off the line. Its just going to be interesting to see if he pulls on you once you hit 3rd gear. I noticed he had 1.6 roller rockers that may help his top end some so he may rope you in. Do you have some extra cash to put into the car before the race? If so im sure we can suggest the right mods for the $.

btw, the if anyone asks he's stock is BS...i hate people like that. I wouldn't bother racing him. Id just save my money for a Kenne Bell and then your car will be in a completely different league.

yeah i hate it to but he says it like this "if anyone knew what was under the hood of my z they wouldn't want to run" he tells them only if they ask i tell them or if there cool and not talking ***** then ive got nothing to hide" also he says people lie or all of a sudden forget that they have nos or something he told me that if im going to street race to always look under the hood and always ask ?'s he's a car freak went to school to work on em, and worked at a performance for 2 years so he pretty much knows where people can hide stuff i just wish he would help me out insted of turning against me for haveing a stang..

i have about 500 to send on mods what can i get that i don't already have and how much hp would i gain..

he says that he doen't have a problem with stangs it's just when people start talking ***** about LT1's Ls1 then he has a problem he thinks we should all stick together join forces and take out these imports he has no problem helpin a ford guy out but when you start talking thats when he cuts you off.. and thats what i did i told him his car was slow and i would kill him....

I'm confused though why is pissed that you have a mustang? Is he just a chevy lover and he tries to act like he isn't biased but obviously is or what?

btw, i had a good race with an lt1 one time. It was on the freeway from a punch. We gunned it at about 65 on the freeway and we shut down at 125. I had catback and k&n filter only and i had him by a little over a car length. I know there are alot of variables that play into it but from a roll i think if i can take one by a car then this race is a possibility. However, i dont know much about how LT1's respond to modifications. If they respond to basic things like the LS1 then your probably going to lose...but if they are more like our engines and dont respond to minor mods then you might beat him.

I hate to say it, but the only chance you have is if off the line he spins realy realy badly, as many F-body cars do this will cause you to get a jump him and your 4:10's should help out some. However if he has a good launch you'll be wishing you had 100HP shot N.O.S. Let us know the out come I hope I'm wrong

hahahah your really funny. Its OBVIOUS neither one of these cars are going to destroy the other one. It'll be a good race...im not quite sure why you come on here with you totally misinformed post.

My guess is both cars are running mid 13's and if either one of them screws up their launch the other is going to eat them alive.
