05 Tranny failure

Exactly. No slight against Canadian or Mexican workers and cars was intended.

In regards to the plant where the Mustang was built (the Rouge plant): it wasn't shut down but instead has been renovated and now builds F150s. So Mustang production is still in a US Ford plant and the old plant is still being used. I don't get YellowMach69s assertion that US UAW workers were screwed somehow.

All this is off the original topic so let's just let it die here. :nice:

Actually, the mustang plant was shut down. They built an all new plant next door to DAP to build the F-150's. DTP sits on ground next to DAP.

I'm thinking more in terms of the Rouge Center, which includes both DAP and DTP. The building of DTP was part of the Rouge renovation.

Actually THE Rouge- where the (64-1/2- 2004) Mustangs were built is a huge complex- at one time the largest industrial complex in the World. That assembly plant is in fact closed, and an all-new Truck Assembly Plant is operating, building the F-150.

I don't know what Ford plans for the hallowed ground where the Mustang was built. I mean "hallowed"- the Mustang was built there for 40 years (1964- 2004) twice as long as the entire production run for the Model T (some also built in what became the Rouge Mustang plant). BUT- the plant was hopelessly outdated and inefficient.

The Auto Alliance plant is modern- and staffed by Ford UAW workers, just like Dearborn Assembly.

Do you know what bolt it was that was not put on right?

The Tremec 3650 is a carryover, but the previous version had a direct shifter. The new one is a remote shifter. I wonder if the bolt problem had anything to do with this?

For those that own a new GT, how is the shifting? I have not even seen a new GT yet. Are the shifts as precise? I would think it would be a little sloppy.
