I'm thinking of changing to crane 1.7 rockers. My motor was just rebuilt, before I bought it. I don't know what cam is in it, But the guy said he put a mild cam back in. My mods include(underdrive pulleys, intake,Crane HI-6 ing.,and bbk Equal shotries). Would it hurt anything, and would I feel any Difference.

I've actually got a set of the Crane 1.7 "Cobra Rockers" waiting to be installed but I am still a little confused about which valve cover gasket to get? I've done the "Search" to see what others have used and there are so many different answers. I want to use the OEM metal style for my stock 89 FOX valve covers but so many have said that you may run into clearance problems and may have to massage the covers or remove baffles for clearance, others just say get a thicker gasket. I thought I might bring this up since you are considering 1.7 crane rockers and gaskets run anywhere form $15-$60 depending on which style and brand you decide to go with.

I have an 89 engine in my 93 coupe that I just installed the Cobra 1:7s last Wednesday on. I have the stock valve covers too. All you need to do is remove 3 little bolts that are holding the baffle in place and it solves your clearance issue with the stock valve covers...

Thanks for answering my question :nice: Did you use the stock gaskets as well?

I used fel-pro #1645 cork gaskets that had metal inserts on the bolts and I have had them off a couple of times and they still dont leak. But what ever you go with buy a name brand gasket and not napa.
