Removed front clip. Tore down the old I beam suspension. They really knew how to put rivets in back in the day. Suckers were tough to get out.

Little more of a clean slate

Mocked up the front end

I dont know why but the images are showing up side down on my phone. Oh well

We were able to get the frame bushings cut and in place. Probably try and weld those in tomorrow. I need to get some more flat stock to be able to fill gaps and secure bolt this in together. Might be able to get this done and move on to getting the rear in there.

There used to be an edit button for editing my own posts but I no longer see it. The tools button just shows "report" and nothing else. I tried to adjust photos but quickly gave up when therr was no longer an edit button.

On a side note, no real progress on the project this weekend with getting ready for xmas.

Cleaned up the wiring from the firewall

Crown vic front end bolted on. Still needs to be finish welded but this is the basic fit.

Tires on and sitting back one the ground. I wanted this on so I could work on the trailing arms and bracket.

I am sure my work isnt up to their standards too. It took me some time. I have never done this before and just did a lot of research and measuring before a I decided on this route and before making the first cut. It has been a great experience that has been very fulfilling. I still miss that 90 gt but it is long gone.

I'd like to see some renderings of where you want to go with it. I know you want something reliable, a cruiser, I get that. What do you see in your mind?

Hey blast from the past. Nice to hear from you. I know this isn't a viper but it's something LOL.

I don't have a rendering or anything as of yet. Not looking to drop it on the ground just something a little lower than stock some 18" rims, low profile tires, the 4.6 and auto. Flat dark blue paint and maybe some writing on the door like a shop truck look.

Once you have it done with a 4.6 and auto, you will then want boost or a new engine! Dont act like you will be satisfied for long! My little 351W Ranger scoots along well, but even it is starting to feel blah after driving it around for a while. Needs more cam to at least sound a little meaner while cruising around.

Ha looks pretty good. I don't know if it will have that much wheel tucked under the fender though. If I go lower I may have to reconfigure my spacers on the frame on the front.

I did some quick research on the 56, and 1998+ Crown vic. The frame rails of the 56 being 34" apart, truck at 76" wide. Taking into account track width is tread center to center and wheels are 16x7x4.75" bs. And 03 Cobra wheels roughly 17x9x6"bs. Also accounting 225/60-16 tires at around 7.6" wide and 275/40-17 are around 10" wide. I'm only going off the math but I estimate the vic front hub to hub at 63.4" and rear 65.4" if you can confirm. The 03 Cobra wheels on the Vic suspension on the 56 will stick outward 1" more per side as compared to the current 225s. Also, the inner side i nthe rear will have about 5-8" of clearance between the tire and the frame assuming shocks wont interfere or anything I'm not tracking. I could be wrong but I so want to be right. I think you could get 03 Cobra wheels to fit without issue.

I agree but I have to keep somewhat of a budget while getting the initial build done. Once i am satisfied with the build and it gets rolling under its own power I will look at upgrading the power train.

So I was receiving some responses that said I would have issues with rim choices and this won't work. Of course I know this will work as it has been done before. I know I am not reinventing the wheel here with this thing so I decided to jump forward a little bit and toss a front fender on there.

I trimmed out the inner fender to compensate the suspension from the CV. I was pretty dead on for the rear portion I cut and still need to trim the top and front a little more. In the end I plan on fabbing a removable panel for alignment purposes.

I like the ride height as when the motor and trans are in, the front end will come down an inch or so.
