I still gotta drop the VB. I have to take pictures of the thing taken apart to determine whether or not the passageway where I laid the side of the drill bit on has been compromised, and is causing a problem. The best tequila I've had was by the Gas Monkey Garage...its got cinnamon in it and goes down smooth. Wouldn't by a car from them.....but that stuff is good.
Its a good sign that there's no metal in that pan.
Hope its something kinda simple, Mike.
I understand what you're talking about completely. On most auto cars the converter is engaged until you hit the brake. The brake switch disengages the tcc.
When you hit the brake, even in second, the tc should be disengaged.
Mind you it still shouldn't be locked up in second, but the brake switch should over ride the tcc.
It also would cause a hard shift condition between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd...but you manually shift, right ?
I read everything you did with the trans but I don't remember if you wired it through the brake switch.... On newer cars the switch makes contact for the brake lights and opens the other when its pressed.
I don't know man....just trying to help you out with whatever little knowledge I have. I must admit....you're way more skilled than me....
I remember something you did ( or thought about doing ) that involved a switch on the linkage so the trans would sense it was in 4th and needed lock up.
I haven't had a drink yet....so....this info may be useless.
Thats a scary dude, you take'n advice from him? There is a micro switch on the shifter that only grounds the solenoids when it's in 3rd. If I shift out of 3rd, that MS breaks the circuit, and the switches wont do jack. What's happening now has to be some valve thing....
An auto trans is just this side of Voodoo. I only know as much about it as the instruction sheet tells me. After that It's all up to Joe Boo....
No,....clearly my transmission is though..Thats a scary dude, you take'n advice from him?
Maybe he scared your tranny.No,....clearly my transmission is though..
Guru? I'm far from a guru...I'm somebody that found out that it's a better transmission than a AODe and went with it.Welp, glad your trans doesnt appear to be damaged. I'd have to give you some s hit about being such a 4R70W guru, and still F'in it up.
Your t-r-a-n-s-m-i-s-s-i-o-nWho you callin a tranny?
You can take the beer with you if you want.Guru? I'm far from a guru...I'm somebody that found out that it's a better transmission than a AODe and went with it.
I'll make it work one way or the other..
Matter of fact,..I'm sposed to be down there laying on my back right now.
Just..........can't.........seem....to..... get... out of this........chair.
For the record...Just so you know (since you're a new guy and all...)Your t-r-a-n-s-m-i-s-s-i-o-n
It used to be a regular transmission
Now it's an irregular transmission, tranny
Ok, dealFor the record...Just so you know (since you're a new guy and all...)
There are words in car guy speak that I hate.
I'll list them for you:
Tranny
Dizzy
Pumpkin
Chunk
Layin scratch
Poppin a wheelie
Wrinkle walls
High rise
Pop ups
Tappets
I'm sure I'll think of some more...In the mean time stop using them around me....It makes my teeth hurt.
I don't use motor either.Ok, deal
How bout motor instead of engine?
@madmike1157 , you mean you dont like watching pumpkin chunk-in around halloween?
But no, I hear you on the chair thing. I have felt that way ever since winter started. My 5 lug swap was like a 2 month process because I didnt feel like warming up the garage to 33 degrees just to keep from getting hypothermia out there supposedly having fun. I mean, these cars are supposed to be our fun down time...
You got that right.....Well, I am sure your concrete garage floor provides the same amount of comfort as mine, too. Sometimes that in itself is enough to say, nah, not tonight.
