I have 1990 mustang gt and I'll be driving and everything is okay but let's say I'm in 5th gear if I go into neutral to coast the rpm rise to 3k, sometimes even stalls. I bought a new iac and fuel filter and I haven't stalled YET but I haven't drove it much , but it's still rising in rpm to 3k while driving in between shifts or stopping at light . Also if I push the clutch in it stops and rpm goes back down.PLEASE HELP!!!

Check codes check throttle cable. The TP may be sticking
Doesn't account for the rise
It has no upshift light right?
Has the battery been dead?
The processor may be trying to find Idle speed (relearn)
Warped or cracked plastic intake manifold?
Several problems can cause your complaint

Sounds like the neutral sensing switch on top of your transmission is either broken or disconnected.

There’s a few things it could be. Bad NGS on top of the T-5, bad VSS sensor as well.

Dump the codes as a starting point. Depending on what the ECU reports will get us started in the right direction, otherwise we are just firing the parts cannon into the dark and taking bets on who get lucky.
