Selling my 35th ann ed.gt vert w/17,000 miles on it.Could not afford the cobra at the time so got the g.t. Love the idea of the i.r.s.and the high revving engine. Will there be much difference in the performance between the two say stock for stock? What are the negatives if any for the 1999,if it has the"fix' it should wax my gt vert. All you 99'ers LET ME KNOW,THANKS!!

A stock 99 Cobra Vert will smoke a stock GT vert of similar year from a stop...... If you learn to launch with the IRS (wheel hop) or get the parts to control it. From a roll, it is no race, especially with 4.10 gears in the Cobra. It really likes to rev- I went from a 5.0 GT to the Cobra, had to learn to keep it above 4K, where it really screams.

If you do get a convertible, first thing I would do is get a good subframe set, preferably with some form of cross braces. Being a vert owner you well know the shortcomings (cowl shake) of those year verts. I've got the Kenny Brown Extreme package (Subs, x-braces, strut tower and K-member brace). Installed 3 weeks after I bought it and made a huge difference even when it was pretty stiff still.

Why would you get rid of your 35th Anniversary GT vert? I am not sure of value, but you have a car that not too many others have.

That said, the '99 Cobra vert is a wonderful car. I found it more fun to drive than my '03 in certain areas. Twisty roads without long straight sections, etc. It is a blast to keep the revs up and has a real F1 sound.

As for the fix, mine lost some low end torque but gained in the upper range. Fix or not, it will wax your '99 with no problem.

Every car (except the Cobra) are 35th anniversary editions. There are Special edition 35ths out there, but I dont think that he has one.

I've had my 99 coupe since Dec, and can't complain about it too much (except it's not an 03/04 and the wheelhop).

I would think that he is talking about the special 35th anniversary option for the GT. I almost bought one before I got my '99 Cobra 'vert. If I remember correctly, the car had special seat inserts, a different color gauge pod and door inserts, a little round shifter knob, a different hood stripe and a grey accent in the rims. Plus, it was the only one where you could get the Performance Red paint. I see one running around here on occasion. Probably the one that I was looking at.

If that is the case, I would probably keep it. As far as I know, they made way less of those than the Cobra.
