2 Tune or not 2 tune?

So I hear mixed opinions?

A Ford tech says "no need to tune the car because the MAFS is calibrated to the injectors and everything should be fine."

Others say with this much work done, in my sig, I would have to get it tuned?

What do you guys think? :shrug:
 
The computers stock in our year cars are very adaptable. Unless you get a system that either replaces it, or just fools the signals, your very limited. Be sure the o2 sensors are running perfectly, be sure the maf is clean, clean out the TB and intake manifold, have the injectors cleaned, be sure there are no vacuum leaks, good plugs, wires, cap, rotor fuel filter PCV that kind of thing. Really all you can adjust is the timing and fuel pressure. I don't see a tune bringing too much to the table unless something is wrong.
 
A good tune is worth it's weight in gold, and you should tune your car after every modification to the most out of it. If you don't have the knowlege or tools to do it on your own and don't want to get them then take it to a professtional. You don't need a Dyno to tune youar car, but it can help. That ford tech is retarted if he thinks the only thing involed in tuning is that the MAF sensor and injectors are calibrated for each other.
 
For the same or not much more you could get an RT and WB and be able to tune yourself, if you desire. Or many tuners can use the TwEECer to tune for you.............

What is an RT or WB? How much is a TWEECER, that I have heard a lot about and how hard is it to tune your own car? These are things I know nothing about. I built my whole motor with my Brother who is a Ford mechanic but he knows nothing about tuning?

Leave it to a pro or be prepared to do a lot of research. I don't recommend DIY tuning to novices. They usually end up going to a pro in the long run anyway.

Everyone is a novice when they start tuning. You are right on about the TwEECer learning curve though. I have been reading up a bit and it is almost overwhelming at first. But if someone uses a known good file to start with, odds are that it will be relatively safe (DL'ing will allow one to see if there are issues). The fine tuning that the TwEECer allows is often where chips leave something to be desired (getting some places to tune other driving dynamics than WOT can be tough).

A PMS is more userfriendly, generally more expensive but cant do quite as much. I dont know much about them. There are quite a few ways to do things.

RT is a reference to a TwEECer RT. WB is a Wideband O2 sensor.
