I have a 01 mustang gt and this is the year they had a half and mine is the 01 and 1/2 forward if thaqt makes any sense.Therefor i have the newer style transmission and i am having it rebuilt right now and first and second gear sync assembly is going to cost me $500.00! I called the parts store and can buy a trans for like $1100 but it isnt showing my trans anymore just one for that year and the same for the years after? mine is like a t3860 or something like that and the old one is a t5 and i was wandering if i could replace mine with a t5 please comment back soon.

You most likely have the T-3650. If you can have yours rebuilt for only $500, why would you want to buy a new one for $1100???

You can get an entire upgrade kit from D&D:

for $649.
I'd do that before installing a "lesser" T-45 and I wouldn't even think of a T-5.

thanks for the info. I was looking into buyin one because on top of the five hundred and something i am paying labor and have to pay for second gear to be replaced with it which was winding up costing me about a grand. I dont know much about the t3650 i just couldnt find parts for them or them for sale any where so i didnt know if they was better or worse than the t5. thanks for all info
