How you guys doing, I'll be posting pics soon. Just bought an 02 Saleen Extreme. Wondered what you guys recommend doing if anything. Does saleen do a good job tuning or do you recommend taking it to a dyno shop and having them do a full tune. Also what about those inserts on the bumper, is that trashy or something you should put on for a little more flash. The color of the Saleen is Torch Red. If so where to buy them.

Thanks guys, take care

Gerry

Congrats on the new E. The Saleen tune is pretty mild. A lot of people are getting the SCT and have it custom tuned from there. You can change the blower pulley for 2-3 more lbs. of boost.

As far the the bumper letters. Scott Winger makes the best quality Saleen stainless bumper inserts. Looks pretty sweet! I've had them on my last 2 Saleens and a Cobra. http://www.stainlessbumperletters.com/99saleen.phtml

I have number 22. It was a guy named John's, he frequented this site. Unreal ride, just dont want to screw anything up on it. Sort of like my newborn child. haha. Anways, any help would greatly be appreciated, and sorry I dont know diddly about things in here. But give me time and I will.

Congrats on your E. :nice: I know the previous owner...great guy. We live about 30 miles apart. I have E #21 so he and I had tons to talk about. We've had our cars side-by-side and they are world's apart. Mine is a S7 Silver coupe. Probably different 'cause mine was 1 of 4 shown in '02 at the NY Auto Show. Frankly, I think they screwed mine up and didn't pay close attention. Yours is fine from what I know.
Bumper inserts give it a bit of "pop" and you can find them everywhere. Just google "bumper inserts saleen". Not much more to change unless (like me) you add some billet/chrome accents or improve the sound system. Congrats again and looking forward to chatting more here.

Hey Big:

Congrats on the new purchase! :nice: I've been looking for an E for a while but haven't had much luck finding one in the CA area with low miles and at a reasonable price.

I just had a few questions if you dont mind:
Is it a coupe or 'vert? how many miles? Do you mind revealing what you paid? Where did you buy it (city, state)?

Thanks and enjoy!

Hey Cali, its a vert, torch red with 4800 miles. Bought it from a great gentleman from Alabama. Paid top dollar, so I'd rather not look like an idiot and reveal the price, not like some I"ve seen on ebay.

Haha very funny. A car is worth what someone will pay for it a wise man once said. And I paid alot so it must be worth it to me, but I"m sure some would say I got robbed or they know someone that would sell me one for alot cheaper. I am super excited to own an E car and to be a part of this legacy of rides. I have always looked at members cars on here and said one day I'll buy one. NOW I DID. Bad thing is forgot to tell my wife, oh well, the couch is comfy. Anyone know any hotties that like Vert E cars in Ohio, haha

Cool, don't even sweat it....All that matters it that you got a bad @ss ride and everyone will be envious as you roll down the freeway.

It's hard to get a good deal on a out of state specialty car like an E, considering you have to spend a cosiderable amount to fly or drive out and see it (unless you like to play Saleen Russian roulette and buy it sight unseen) have it shipped, registration fees, tax, etc...

Anyways, we would love to see pics on this website when you get 'em...the garage thing...I dont usually post pics there... most people just check the threads

Anyways, have fun and hopefully the "big ticket" doesn't mean what the cops are going to have in mind...j/k

No worries and good point, there is always someone to point out that you paid too much or yadda yadda yadda. The bottom line is that you got what you want and that is a good feeling. This is the first red car that I have had and now I know what they mean about arrest me red, there isn't a cop in Missouri that I have past that doesn't stare or give me a quick instant on of the radar to make sure I am in line....

I also bought mine with low miles (4600) just this past Dec 26th. I love it and I'm sure you will too.....

Enjoy and welcome. These guys on this board have already been very helpful to answer any and all of my questions.
