Hello. I'm new to stangnet and new to the mustang world, so far I'm lovin it . I have 24# injectors with upgraded 255 fuel pump, with lots of other mods to motor. my car is a 1988 5.0l with a al9 cpu , 24# 75 mm mass air, 70mm throttel body, 70mm upper and lower intake, msd ignition, b303 cam, electric fan, underdrive pullys, smug pump pully, headers , h pipe,3.73 gears and 255/50/16 mickeys on the back i hope i did miss anything. I would like to know what i should set my timming and fuel pressure at with 24 # injectors. I'm hoping someone may have similar mods , any replies would be great

Thanks

Start at about 14 degrees and see if it pings at WOT. Back it off until it quits pinging. Unless of course you have a dyno available then do it there. Make sure you are running 92 octane if available. i can get 93 here in town if needed. As far as fuel pressure someone else can chime in on that.
Sounds like a great car and welcome to Stangnet.
How about some pics and specifics on your ride.

39psi is the stock fuel setting.

Due to how your A9L runs the fuel calculations it is best to start with 39 and make small adjustments from there.
Running as high as you are currently is most likely causing a loss in power, and may affect idle quality.

Advance your timing untill you start to have problems then back it off 2-3 degrees.
Remember that you can get pinging before it is audible, thus the need to back the timing off a little.

Sounds like a nice ride :nice:

Welcome to :SNSign:

Thank you for all replys. I have a timing gun and right now its set at 13 degrees. I'm gonna set my fuel psi to 39 and take it from there. I'll also take a few pic and post them on here. Also i did notice that i'm getting very bad gas milage could that be because of to high fuel setting or maybe my modd's..............I have also told all my mustang bud's about STANGNET great place

Thanks

There are a couple of things that can cause poor fuel economy.

First though is how are you calculating your economy.
You need to look at how many miles you drive on a tank, divided by how many gallons you have to add to fill up the tank.
I bring it up because some people freak when trying to use the fuel gauge to find mpg. The fuel gauge is not that accurate.

The first things I suspect are...
The high fuel pressure.
Bad O2s.

See what you get after dropping the fuel pressure.
Let us know.

Unplug the line and adjust your pressure. Make sure that you plug the vac line or it will be a vac leak while you are setting the fuel pressure.

Once you have set the pressure, hook the vac line back up. :nice:

I might be the only one here but i don't think you need 24's yet on that combo. I would still run the 19's. I don't beleive you are maxing out your combo yet. I didn't see any mention of heads so i assume you still have E7's.

Reason i wouldn't go to 24's until you NEED to is due to tunability issues. I think injectors and matched MAF's sometimes cause more problems and calibration should be done with a chip instead.

Just my take on it

hello......the quick reply just blows me away ,this is so great. I found a great deal on injecters and mass air.Now the reason for 24 # injectors are im gonna be changing my heads very soon so you may be right about not being maxed out.. I'm not sure on which one to go with arf 165 or gt 40. aluminums. All the adive so far has made my car run better so far. Thank you to everyone

i just wanted to check if i did everything right. I adjusted fuel pressure to 39 psi by letting car idle and unpluging vacuum line to adjust. after i pluded in vacuum line i noticed at idle my pressure is just a little lower than 39 at idle is this normal.. what should it read when i hammer it at full out

Thanks
