275's in the front, 315's in the rear? On a fox?

I read THIS article and it has me very jealous indeed. I want to put some new wheels and tires on the car, and obviously I want the most tire possible. The guy in this thread says they fit even with LX tailpipes! Now for the front... I know that only 91+ cars got the larger fender openings, but I've heard rumors that the rubbing problem is only with GTs anyway. I wouldn't have a problem massaging the fender a bit if I had to. My only concern is that my 1990 LX is lowered 1.5" and that might add to my issues.

Here are the wheels I will be running: 79-93 WHEEL, SC STYLE, 17x10", 4 LUG, BLACK PAINTED WITH MACHINED LIP MUSTANG

I was planning on 2003 replicas, powder-coated black, but I don't think they will have the correct offset

315s in the back? Yes. 275s in the front? No.

The 275s in the front was covered in another thread recently. Popular opinion was that it doesn't happen without extreme modification. We're talking much more than just a BFH like it takes to fit 315s in the rear.

Most people do 245/45-17, which is the stock tire size for the new edge cars, IIRC. Even with that, rubbing can still be a problem. I'm getting ready to go 5-lug on 17s and that is what I plan on doing in the front.

I have 245/45's on mine...it sits pretty low. I had 1/4" spacers and it would hit the fenders on bumps while slightly turned. Removed the spacers and it doesn't hit the fenders anymore but it sure rubs like hell with the wheels turned all the way.

Sharp turns are no longer my friend.

I would not put 245's on a 9 inch wheel on the front. They will be stretched and that is your steering/turning. My friend's 90GT has 17X9 03 Cobra replicas with a 275-40R17 Goodyear tire on the front. He has stock fox spindles, LCA's and coil cover struts. He is also running one 1/4" spacer. The rear is the same 17X9 03 Cobra replica with a 285-40R17 Goodyear GSC. He now has 275-40-17 M/T's. The 285 Goodyears rubbed a little under turning. 315's will force you to take a BFH to the inner fender well and possibly roll the lips if you're lowered. His quarter panels have put a couple of tiny cuts in the Goodyears from hitting large bumps. The rear is a stock fox 8.8 4 lug.

Are those wheels 9" wide? If so, those 245's don't look bad at all. They don't even look like 245's. That rim guard is nice too. The 245's we mounted on those 17X9's on his car, were stretched like crazy. Goodyear Eagle ZR45's...we just took them back off and mounted the 275's.

Yup, 9 inch wheels. 17x9's. I'm pretty sure they're 245's....lemme double check and make sure I'm not getting myself mixed up!


Bridgestone Potenza's.....245/45.

I'm pretty sure the wheels are 9"....could be mistaken I guess.

Yeah I'm happy with the look...not happy with the rubbing issues....but what ya gonna do!

They need replacing though....thought about going with Dunlop Direzza's because they're cheaper...but not decided yet.

I got 235 45 17 up front on a 9" wheel....toyo proxies4 tires and 245 45 17 out back with a 1/4 spacer...fronts rub when wheel is cut all the way

Well damn...I was actually thinking about steppign down the size of the tire up front to help...but maybe it wouldn't.
