That's why I wanted to move my '66 into the garage. No windows and the car cover doesn't exactly keep all the water out. Some water dribbled out when I moved it into the garage. It was probably stuck in the frame rails or something.

Spray can detailing on sway bar and some other stuff.

Rebuilt by Krylon
Hiding the rust with Rustoleum
The rattle can plan.
Spray bomb car repair.

Coil spring insulators, tried to put them in on top of the old ones which doesn't work,
Hey the old got painted and were hard to see. Its all ok now.

Passenger side went together easy, Drivers side I had to fight and compressor chewed the spray paint off the spring.

Now about that puddle or trans fluid. Note new subframe and drive shaft loop.

Heres the spot where it bleeds like its gut shot. The shifter / kick down shaft.

Ordered a shifter shaft seal kit from flea~bay

Was having a hard time getting old seal out with out scratching mating surfaces all up.
My seal pick was just too long.
So i bent a 16 penny gun nail and used vice grips to hold it.
Then it came out really nice with no collateral damage.
Old one felt hard as a rock on the lip itself.
Hope this cures the leak.

Of course I gave the pan some 'driveway detailing'
Straighten, sand, prime, paint.
Was thinking i should weld a drain plug in but didn't.

I will go buy some tranny fluid tomorrow.

Did an engine oil change while waiting for paint to dry and installed a new fuel filter too.
Was pretty dirty for just 800 miles of use.
Next one will last longer I bet!

Good job.I like following your thread, very clean and methodical and correctly fix things as they need it. I like it.

Mr safety boy ...(me) ..noticed the last pic which makes me shudder...plastic fuel filters. They scare me. In my humble opinion a metal one is the only way to go.
....Look how the spout on the old one is bent about 45 degrees from original in the pic...

True.. you can't see the inside of the metal ones when they are dirty... but they won't break, melt or leak. Change them on a regular basis and they won't get plugged.

The thin cylindrical glass ones are a real risky choice as well. they have 2 ends to leak from and the glass is very fragile unlike the thick glass bowl fuel filters from the 50's. Glass or plastic in any case is not that safe.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

I feel the same way.
Never liked those glass cylinder ones either, to small element, prone to leak, etc.
I agree with you on the plastic too, but I wanted to run a couple of plastic to see how dirty the lines... after sitting umpteen years.
Mostly I wanted to post a picture here of course. Dirt is exciting!
The metal one is on the list of things to do for the long term.
I did add a longer piece of line not liking that bend in end either.

New front suspension and sub frame observations;

First drive, to alignment shop, I feel like a nervous school boy with excitement. (stangs do that 2me, you know)

At pulling into parking spot speeds I hear front tire scrub I didn't hear before.

The over boosted twitchy feel is gone, its now firm but super light steering.

Power steering pump seems to be working harder at low speeds.

When trying to jack rear tire by leaf mount front tire lifts too.

Front end now sits up half an inch higher or so.

No more front end shake at 65mph.

Steering wheel is better centered.

I need u joints.

15min each way and
No trans drip/ leak yet but not calling success till its long term success.
