doesn't have to be v8 but then I would also need the adapter yes. My car was harvested of its v8 gauges before I bought it. I may just go all aftermarket if I can't put together a nice set for decent money.
The steering wheels are just steel as far as I know. I think they have some kind of paint on them. They came in silver and black. I think black was mostly in non-mustangs applications, the one I currently have is black, but I may paint it. They typically have spots of corrosion on them like in your picture.

Here is another Mustang II with 74 tach with missing V8 tach adapter...
If somebody finds a good solution I'm glad to here how to use the stock tach.

77 tach plug would not plug into back of 74 tach, also 77 tach adaptor would not plugin to back of 74 tach
Adapter is the blue boxy thing in post 153. Hope that all works good.

I also can't get the pistons out of the brake caliper. 120 psi Air pressure and no budging. Can't turn pistons with big pliers. Can't push them in with big C clamp. The black lumpy honey that oozed out stained the driveway. Nasty.
Might be junk at this point.

I've just spent the last hour reading this entire thread. I've quite enjoyed it. Getting the kids involved was great to see. Seeing all your progress makes me motivated to get to work on my project(s).

'78 t-top V8 4 spd A/C car from Arizona (rust free). This is the one that is being built

'78 t-top V8 Auto... kinda rusty... parts donor car.

Then we have the two cars I'm picking up over Memorial weekend for parts. A '76 and another '78.
I'll have another 4 spd and another auto and two more V8's. I ought to be able to piece something together.

Keep up the awesome work. Love seeing a II come back to life at the hands of someone that truly enjoys them.

Our goal was my kids 16 b day this weekend but not really making it by then.
For having to do it in the driveway we are doing ok. Shade would be nice too though.

I've done a lot of the grunge work and he's done the glory but I don't care. I don't want him to get burnt on first onebecuse I want to play cars together the rest of out lives.

Almost got the brakes plumbed. SS lines and a Line lock are in, just need to wire and do something about the front calipers.
You know, now that I look at the picture, I should of pulled the ignition box and put the LL there. What ever.
As long as it works safely and reliably.

Yes, that is 3 T-top ponies.

I certainly can relate to the goals being missed. It happens. Projects never go as planned. Fix one issue, uncover 4 more in the process.

The kid will remember the times spent with you on this project and because of it, he's going to value that car a whole lot more. Ignore the deadline and the blown budget... It IS worth every minute and penny.

if I brush it I will have to clear it, stuff rusts overnight out here. Hate to make it worse than it is but that pieces in your hands every time ya get in so it should be nicer than it is.

SInce my car isn't stock anymore AND I installed an MSD 6AL in that general vicinity, my line lock solenoid is kinda below where the ignition box looks to be in your car. Easy access to all of the fittings that way should I need to do anything with them.

Here's an old pic of my engine bay from way back when I first got her running again. It's the only one that shows where I placed the solenoid.

Front brake stuff showed up Sat. All from Speedway (like them a lot) except the rotors from Canada.
Rotors description said "Won't be shipped in the Shelf worn boxes" but the price was good.
For the lack of packaging on the rotors they arrived in decent shape.
Taught my son how to hand pack the new bearings.

New front brake everything is what counts but suspension needs a rebuild too.

Had a hard time bench bleeding the MC
Front didn't even have fluid coming out of brake line port for the longest time.
Finally blew back into the port (with my mouth and tube) and bubbles came up and then it bled right up quick.
Not sure what was going on there, but feels good and solid now.

After much brake bleeding and line tightening we drop it back on the ground.
I opened the sunroof and rolled the windows down (I broke the handle right the heck off).
Then my son took the maiden voyage on the new (used) engine. Whoo Hoo.
Just up the street and back but it was his 16th birthday and he got to drive it for the very first time...
I'm so glad it worked out this way.
I'm calling a victory!

Then he took me for a short ride around the block.
