Alright guys crunch time to finally decide what i want for xmas...i got a pro 5.0 from my bro in-law, and my last decision for xmas.
Should i get 355's or 373's??
I do a good amount of highway driving, so i was leaning towards the 355's, but im still unsure. Help please! pros/cons? if any of course

go 373's i have them in my 5spd, first gear is short in city driving, really short! highway speeds- at 70 mph i'm at around 2100rpms, not too bad.

I like my 3.55's.. feels a lot quicker than 3.08's and I can still hit 60 in 2nd gear . Cruise speeds are useable, and on the highway I'm right around 2000rpm@65mph. Top speed would theoretically be around 180, but 140-150 is easy (4400-4800rpm in 5th).

very little difference between the two. i am like you and would opt for the 55's myself. the gears spool up quick enough as it is.

there are gear calculators out there that you can play with (this all depends on your rear tire height, too, which im sure you know) if you want to see where your limits would be.

good luck.

I'm putting in 3.73's on Monday. This is the second set in another car. My GT, stock with 3.73's , is faster than a stock Cobra with 3.08's. It helps alot to have the 3.73 on a stock Mustang. It seems the perfect of all the others ratios' to have 3.73's. Better than 2.73"s.....Vert.

3.73 woke it right up.

I would go 355 on a stock motor & 327 on a beefed up one, for instance on my super charged 93 I got 355's & the ammount of tire slippage is rediculous I'm going to 327 or back to stock, I would recommend no one go to 373's no offense but I had em in my last stang, it was stock but just rediculouse how tight they were.

i cant speak for the both of us seeing how you're making a whole lot more power than i am, but i just got my 3.73's in and i love it, yea first gears way short in the city but its fun as hell pulls a ton harder than stock 2.73's

Your buddy must have a slow car then. I've had my car up to about 112 mph with the 3.73's and I was only at 5300 rpm in 4th gear.

I've been wrestling with the same question. I think that I will go with 3.73, rather than 3.55. Reason being that there isn't that much of a difference in the drop of mileage, IMO.

I say go with 355's if your gonna drive highway mostly, its a very good ratio.Somtimes I want to swap back to my 350's from the current 411's in my 65. And it revs to 6500+ with power. 5th gear sucks!

I have 355s and I like em, I realy want 4.10s because I have an aod and I realy dont care that much about gas mileage but the 355s are a good gear, I get 21 mpg on the highway and 16-18 in the city.
