I have not seen a kit advertised for a very long time. What exactly was a 317 stroker? 5.4" rod, stock crank and what pistons? Or am I remembering incorrectly?

I have not heard of a 317" stroker.

If it was done with a 5.4" rod, and a stock crank at 3.0", then you are looking at a 1.30" CH piston at zero deck on an 8.2" deck heigh block.

If it used a stock crank, it would not be a stroker

5 years ago that and 347 were the only options. Used to see them advertised in all the rag's but have not in a very long time.

Probably offset grind crank, 317 stroker.

As was posted "elsewhere"...

302 block
3.100-inch stroke Not a stock crankshaft.
High-nodular-iron early 302 crankshaft
Eagle 5.400-inch connecting rods
Ross ultralite forged pistons
Clevite 77 main and rod bearings
Childs & Albert piston rings
Kit price: Starting at less than $1,800

You would use a 1.25" CH piston.

An offset grind requires different connecting rod ends/bearings, because it decreases the diameter of the crankshaft, and it could be a possibility.
