351w stock harmonic balancer problem

i just put a 95 lightning 351w in a friends mustang,the stock balancer was too short so i ordered the motorsport m-8510-b351 spacer that some people told me to get to align the pulleys,well it doesent fit on the stock balancer,i even tried it on a 87 351 crown vic balancer,doesent fit.is this the right spacer and i need to grind the lip off or something.please help,totally lost here

I am putting a 351W in my fox right now and I needed to replace the stock harmonic balancer because it was 3 hole and my new March pulley kit required a four hole damper. I ordered one through Summit (SUM-163289 DAMPER OEM 289-351) for $68.

It worked great with the m-8510-b351 spacer you already bought.

there are a few different spacers. try phoning the tech line at summit to get the right one.
