Anyone running 4.10's with a manual. Will be shooting for optimal track times with combo in sig. Will be running a slick, 26" tall or 28" tall. I will be driving it now and then on the street for kicks and giggles, and hardly drive on the hgihway. Anybody have any experiences with 4.10's in a 5 speed, if you have let me know? Thanks.

im in the process of doing the h/c/i swap right now, think ill be okay with a 4.10, i just dont want to have the car fall flat on its face come end of the quarter mile.

DONT GO 3.73s, if you want track numbers go 4.10s. I have 3.73s and regret them and am looking to go 4.10s. Who cares about the highway, as 3.73s and 4.10s arent much different in RPM, and they help in the 1/4.

Manual 4.10s
Auto 4.30s

For racing that is!

I love the whole 2.73 to 4.10 debate -- it's really the same difference between 2.73's and 3.08's -- but nobody really cares about that difference. It's minimal, and the 4.10's will work better. If you really want to get serious with a N/A car, go to a 4.30 or even more if you have the motor for it.

well unless you really have a car that revs higher than 5300 with power still then a 4.10 is just about it. my 4.10 runs outta 4th gear at about 106ish. i know my car doesnt have the power to run anywhere near a 106mph 1/4 mile but if you car has some power and stays under the 5300rpm powerband then you might run outta power near the end. gotta do some calculations with your final product to see where you will finish with the most power with the most use of your gear

Ive had the 4.10's for about a year. Half of be is regreting not getting the 3.73 's only because on any highway i dont want to push it over 3,000 rpm's for a long period of time and thats doing almost 70 mph. I normaly have to cruze at 2,800 rpm's and it kinda sucks becasue it takes me forever to get anywhere. Like i wanted to go to norwalk ohio for the High school nationals but i had no way of getting my car down there and drving is out of the question even tho its only about 4 hours away. If your stang is your secondary car i would go with the 4.10's if not i would go with the 3.73's.

Its common sense that you're gonna NEED a 26" tire for that set up you have, unless you wanna slow down, then by all means go with the 28". DEFINATLY do 410's, that is, if you wanna go fast and do it right the first time :)

I have 4.10s in my 5 speed, which has a slightly higher gear ratio being the X2c V.2 TKO. It wasnt bad with my t-5, but now im running out of gear WAY too fast. Ill be swapping in some 3.55s. Plus my car has a blower. As it sits now, I cruise in 5th gear at 60 mph at 3000 rpms. NO way will i have enough gear to finish a 1320. Good luck, and I recommend 3.73s from previous experience.

The 410 and 373 debate is endless !!!! With a stock motor the rule of thumb is 373's = aod,and 355's = a 5speed. 373's in a 5speed feels like 410's in an automatic!! If you like cruising between 70 and 80 on the highway,go 373's :nice:

Some of you guys have serious reading comprehension problems. This what he said:

In other words, he doesn't give a crap about highway mileage. For the best ETs with his setup, he needs 4.10s or even 4.30s with a 26" tire or 4.56s with a 28" tire.

Anybody recommending 3.73s for his setup and needs is smoking crack. Different setups will require different gearing for optimum track performance. What works for a 600 hp blown monster or a purely stock motor is totally different than what you need for a setup like his.

Guys, the difference between 4.10s and 3.73s is only a meesly 250ish RPM....i drove 30 friggan miles ONE DIRECTION on the hiway with mine, at 65-70mph on a 265/60/R15 and i'm only around 2700rpm at 70....that's not really a big deal. If you EVER race your car and you're serious about getting the most out of it (and of course like sirsureshot93 said, you DONT have a supercharger...) just get the 4.10s. If your motor is in good working order and isnt burning oil and smoking, the RPMs will have hardly any effect, and driving at hiway speeds is easier on your motor than racing and city driving anyways. With a 28'' tall tire, the gear ratio will drop to around a 3.90 anyways.

Hey sweet! 700 posts!

you aren't gonna run out of 4th gear in the 1/4, you are just going to do it faster than most.
