Do you think my car will be ok?
I have an 89 mustang HCI , 2800 [pci] converter [non lock up] AOD car with 410 gears.
No trani cooler, but I did put a 3 core radiator in it, now can I drive 400 mile to the Michigan dream cruise?
or will it hurt my trani? also it is spinning about 2700 rpm at 70mph

the reasone I dont have a trani cooler is , the car is a 30.000 mile car and I did not want to cut the trani lines

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely needs a trans cooler. A non lock up converter on the highway for 400 miles at 2,700 rpms is going to build some pretty serious heat and you will need to deal with that. The other mods are not the question if you ask me, the trans cooler will be your one hang up. If you have already modified the car (HCI) then my vote is to properly help cool the trans to help it live.

Yuk....why no lock up? Your car doesn't make that much power that one wouldn't hold up. Ran a modified Mercury Maurader Converter in my blown Cougar for years that stalled about the same and my car made 410hp/465tq.

Agree with 84TTop though....a big, plate style trans cooler is a must. The bigger, the better.

X3 for the trans cooler. Just buy a new set of lines from Summit if you don't want to cut the originals. The 3 core radiator side tank is not big enough. You put the higher stall converter in there so you need to address the higher heat associated with it.

What was the reason to go non lock up? Did you change to a 1 piece input shaft.

I cut mine right before the radiator.
