414c.i. Conversion Update

Wow, this is very informative. Thanks guys. I will ask Rick about it.

[EDIT] - OK, I got the answer from Rick. 95Vert383AOD is correct. We are going to add baffles which will help a great deal. I am also going an extra step - and go back to a closed breather system using the headers as a vaccum. Then the stink goes out the exhaust. :)

"I have a breather on the drivers side and on the passenger side I ran a hose to a Oil separator for air tools then to the discharge side of the blower. The oil separator works great!"

Saleen, Right now I am running this on both sides:
Summit SUM-G3405 - Summit® Valve Cover Breathers - summitracing.com

I think I saw this setup in summit.. Would this solve my issue? How do you set it up? Does it flow enough air or am I back to the same problem?

Moroso 85471 - Moroso Air/Oil Separator Tanks - summitracing.com

Steeda 555-3710 - Steeda Oil Separator - JEGS

I don't have a PCM system OR EGR though..

What I have is a breather like you on the drivers side...since I have no baffle it would get oily. I bought a polished aluminum extension,,,can't remember where...but it basically screws into the valve cover oil fill neck and then the filter screws into it. I put a piece of filter material that you get at the local parts store for like "Breather material"....and I cut a piece of it and then screw my filter like yours on top of it. Then just change it out every now and then. It blocks the oil from coming up to the filter. Since I have no baffle's I'm using 2 passenger side valve covers with the oil fill tube on both sides. So my breather filter is raised up higher a few inch's...then put an extension on that. So it's way up there. (The extension is not in the pic) If you have a filter screwed directly onto the valve cover with no baffle I can imagine that you would get lots of oil coming up into it!!!

For the passenger side I'm using something like the Steeda unit oil separator. It's made for air tools that you buy anywhere for about $20. I have that going from the passenger cover to the discharge side of the blower on the tube going to the TB. I beveled the fitting in the discharge tube and it sticks up into it about 1/1/2" to create a Venturi effect so it draws the crankcase air into the intake. So you would just put it on your intake tube to the TB. When you close the throttle it is not sucking though. Still I have never had any problems with it this way.

Here's a pic...but I don't have the extension on the drivers side on yet. This pic was taken before I did it. You can barely see the part of the "Bowl" on the left side of the picture of the oil separator behind the shock tower. I don't have it mounted, It just sits there held by the hoses.

A Few days after this pic was taken I cracked 6 pistons when a I was at the dyno and the guy "Tuning" my DFI leaned it out......so it all came back apart again!:D

WOW :jaw: Your car looks incredible man! Thanks for the post. Why didn't I think of this!? I could try putting a longer nec kon it like that until I get it back to Rick's shop. Thanks. :nice:

I just have to figure out where to get one of those.
