If I could get away with another $1200 i'd drive up there and pick it up. Not to be though. Plus that sucker is huge, it looks like a 36" throat. I'll probably not need larger than about an 18". This fall I'll have cash again, then I'll get serious about that tool.
I went down to the storage unit and sat in the car and did some thinking about the picking order for Booger.
While sitting on the rocker and picking away without thought the sound deadening I found a 1983 quarter in great condition underneath it.
I think I'll find someplace to put that whenever I get through the car.
I'm reconsidering doing the through the floor sfc's. I'm not saying I won't do them yet. My new floor pan is sitting right next to Booger and I looked at it for awhile as well. It sure looks nice, I started thinking about slicing it up for the sfc's, kind of seems a shame.
So, June is coming up real soon and I'll be back at doing something noteworthy.
I'll need to finish stripping the vehicle down first. I need to pull the rest of the wiring harness, etc.....
I want to do the floorpan first because it will be the relatively quick and easy repair. That'll get me going after the rest.
Then again, I've always done the hardest thing first when given a list of tasks. That will be the right front subframe. I have to replace that first in the whole engine bay smoothing. Then I can mix the Scott Rod panels and new radiator support at the same time. Then the welding up of all the leftover holes.
Widening the 1/4's will be the last operation before the end of this summers modifications. As stated before, I'll just get the tubs widened out 1.5"s. I believe the widening will be carried down into the rockers. I don't like the look of seeing too much tire from the outside of the car. I'm going to delay the outer 1/4's till I get my english wheel.
There you go then, that's the tentative plans that are firmly etched in soap.......I'll do the main three areas for sure, just not sure of the order.
The sfc's (whichever kind) and jacking rails with the cross support will be done at the time of the floor
I spent some time looking at the roof as well. I believe I'm going to drill out all those rivets for the t-top and send the brace off to be sand blasted and powder coated. It's just ugly enough to need some special attention. This will allow me to completely take all of the rust off of the roof as well. Right now the rust goes up underneath the t-top frame.
Tell me what y'all think of the order of work. The only one i'm sure of is doing the t-top brace after the floor and sfc's.
in there. WHICH, will be more than the HF english wheel and fail in 10 hrs of use!
