I joined one local car group on FB and it ended up being nothing but sh*t talking idiots. Again, another one of the reasons my FB is mostly just about my family and friends that live far enough away that we need a way of keeping in touch.

Very tasty, one of the best imperial stouts I can remember having.
I blocked out the rocker trim and got the rocker guard sprayed on them. I have to let that set for a little bit, then I'll paint them the trim grey.
Alright, I got them painted and am very satisfied with how they look. My pictures aren't that great though. I know they look heavy duty orange pealy. That's just the rocker chip guard. I'm very cool with it. The picture shows them while the clear coat is still wet. The gloss died back to a nice eggshell. I'm very pleased with how straight they turned out considering the lack of time I put into them.

It's just the nature of a heavy rocker chip guard.
Those panels will see lots of abuse when the car is driving and would get chipped up horribly without the chip guard.
Plus it's not a high visibility exterior area, except for those people that will look at the undercarriage.
They're noticeable while standing up, just not very....rock chips would stand out when looking at them though.
An additional reason is that there are thin metal and without the chip guard their Rockwell rating is pretty high. Meaning the only thing to absorb the impact of rocks and stuff would be the paint....chips, chips, chips.

I intend to start working on my instrument panel today. I have lots of customer work to do though (Yay!). I'll probably use my lunchtime to get going on it. I scrubbed it down with soap and water yesterday, so it's ready to be fixed now.

So I got started on the IP. I picked four cracks to work on. The two that will be seen from the outside one by the right speaker hole and remake one peg the metal frame screws to.
The usual prep, I used a dye grinder to v out the cracks and started the repair on the back side, tomorrow I'll flip it and get the front. I made a tube with tape to make the peg and squirted the Panel Bonding Adhesive into that tube.
I had to use some zip ties to hold a couple of the cracks together.
I sanded the backside with 36 grit and did some deeper cuts criss crossing the cracks with the dye grinder. I used my dry wall mesh, sprayed some adhesion promoter and went to town.
That's it for now.

Oh yeah, here's my pretty rocker mouldings.
The front side before repair. It's all sanded and prepped. At lunch I'll sling the PBA. No flex in those cracks anymore!
I may do a little more before I get out of here this evening. It's Friday! Therefore
I had a little extra free time and fixed one side of the crack underneath the stereo opening and began the reconnection of the piece that surrounds the right speaker.
As you can see, I only got one side of one side glued. This stuff takes time. It'll take at least two more days to finish reattaching that piece. Then I have the long piece that goes along the windshield area to reattach, and it's two pieces.
Oh well, I'm getting stuff done!
After this piece is finished, I believe I will get the t-tops and disassemble them. The insides need to be black, the outside grey. Maybe towards the end of next week or the first of the following week.
I'm working my way towards the driver's door.
I'm not saying my earlier expectations may have been a little too optimistic in completion time. What i'm saying is they may have been a little ignorant to the reality of completely restoring every piece of an auto that's been sitting in the sun in one spot for sixteen years.

BTW, for anyone wondering. When I have all the pieces fixed and cracks glued up i'm going to use a dremmel to clean up the holes that should be there.
