Progress Thread 88 Gt T-top- Project problem child

Alright! Back at it. Still not happy about the whole thing but it was for the best. I don’t think I would have stripped the back if this hadn’t happened. I had some surface rust all under the seam sealer. Working my way through stripping the whole thing back down to metal and I’ll start again. Hoping to
Have it in primer tonight.

Also popped the glass .. oddly easy

Hell of a lot easier to handle that hatch with no glass, isn't it?

Was able to break away for a couple hours tonight.

The hatch is now done.

The hood is now done.

The two lomg ground effects are now done. Had to heat up and bend the corner on one.

I’m now officially done with each part. Tomorrow starts the process of scrubbing down the garage.

Nothing amazing to report at this time. Got my plastic hung and filtered fans and what not. It pulls the fumes and dust away just fine.

Started on my test panels so I can dial in my gun and get my technique down for the clear coat. Tonight was a disaster at this point. Runs like crazy. Gonna try again tomorrow night. I’ll report back once I have it closer to ready. Probably gonna be messaging Dave for some pointers

There you go Bill.:nice:

You've gotta know how your gun shoots, they're all different.

You're doing the exact correct thing there. I can't wait till you start painting the car.

One last fresh paint selfie. I know you guys love these.

Took my spare fender and sectioned it off into
3 and my spare door and made 8 sections. Painted each one and got a great lay out with just a little orange peel. Then removed the sections and pained each panel 2 more times to practice on
The larger areas. All turned out great. These poor panels have 15+ layers of paint, but they have served as a great learning tool.

The next thing i paint will be part of the car. Gonna get the garages cleaned back up and start preparing . My main worry at this point is keepikg
Dust out of it, but I plan to polish anyway.
