Does anybody know how fast are the 98 cobras? I have a 89 gt 5 speed(bbk shorty headers, 2 1/2 cat back dynomax, edelbrock top & lower intake, shifter). I was called out by a this one guy who has a 98 cobra stock. I'll be racing him either mon. night or tuesday after work. I just want some input on hard to pull off the line. I have yokohama street tires. Any advise is appreciated!

What gears do you have? Is the 98 Cobra stock? A stock 1/4 mi time for a 98 Cobra is a 13.9 @102. Depending on driver and tires could be better/worse.

Your launch depends on how well your tires bite. With 3.73's 1500rpm would probably be good, maybe walk it out a little before you completely nail it. If you can get a jump on the cobra you got a good chance. The dohc motors pull hard at top end, but if you get a jump on him it'll be your victory.

With a good driver they run anywhere from a 13.7-13.9 @ 101-102...305 hp...hmmm...its going to be close from the start(edge to you) but after you hit third he might start a pull on ya...(edge to him)...

Come back with results

I personally don't think you stand a chance, but it can't hurt to try.

ya I have a feeling he's going to pull on you hard with his 7k redline but its probably more of a drivers race with two cars that are that closly matched... Good luck and let us know the results!
