is there truth to the 87-88 have a bit more of an aggressive cam then the 89-93 mass air?

is the pace car still mass air? or did you convert to mass-air?

edit: nvm i see its now mass air.

so doing the swap on my 88 would liven it up some then? i have everything i need to do it...i just dont want to yet because its running so good and i dont want to mess it up :sad:

I have seen the cam specs for the 87-88 cam and the 89+ cam specs and they are so close I doubt it makes a difference. I believe the speed density tune is just more aggressive than the mass air tune.

When I put my thumper heads and intake on, the car still made impressive power, but I felt a SOTP gain by swapping to mass air. I think this is because at that point the SD system was losing efficiency since it was un-tuned, where as the mass air to a degree can adapt to changes better than SD.

It was a ploy by Ford because the new model was coming in 94. It was the same engine as 87-93 cept for the intake which made it weaker. They very well couldnt come out with a new model that made less HP so they lowered it in 93 for this reason.

Fords explination was that it changed the method in which they measured HP.

Whats a ballpark estimate for a dyno and what are the details of how it's done. The only ways I know of is either hooking it up to a computer thing, or yanking the engine out.

I wouldn't mind dynoing my stock 5.0 before I start with any kind of modding just to see the improvements in hp if the price were right.

its like $75 for 3 pulls...then if you want the print out..you pay extra for it.

AGAIN, stock 5.0's on average are between 180-195. 5spd's generally are higher then AOD's.
