90-93 hvac controls in an 87-89 car?

So i like the look of the later model hvac controls and i know it’s possible to swap them into an earlier model year, what’s the best way at doing this without swapping the dash? any help is appreciated!!

Unfortunately it's a dash swap, or a major dash modification. I beleive the 90-93 controls are slightly smaller wo you might be able to machine an adatper plate that bolts to the original 87-89 mounting patter, and then have a slot and bolt holes for the 90-93 pattern
