i got a 91fox body, the other day i went to disengage the clutch and it felt like the cable snapped ( cable, clutch and quadrant are all stock!) not knowing theproblem i was forced to drive home with no clutch, i dropped the tranny only to find out my throwout bearing was in peices and had worn an 1/8in groove in the bearing retainer shaft, well not being able to find one i just installed it all... back on point.. before i hooked up the starter and exhaust, i decided to install the new stock cable first and see how the clutch felt, well all i get is a loud clicking with no clutch at all, is the quadrant stripped? if so, how do i go about remving it and installing a zoom aluminum quadrant with the adjustable cable?? do i have to remove the entire dash? any help is greatly appreciated!!

It's a lot more fun with the seat in, you should try it that way . So, you reinstalled the trashed TB and bearing retainer?

no, i bought a new throw out bearing, and pilot bearing,.. the bearing retainer i couldnt find, everyone around here was closed untill monday and i have got to drive this car to work on monday, i really would have liked to replace the bearing retainer but i couldn't, do you think its going to destroy the throw out bearing since the retainer has a groove in it? if so how long do you think its going to last?

I would replace it as soon as you can. Actually, I wouldn't drive the car if that's at all possible.

i actually do have to drive it, about 70 miles a day. since that bearing retainer is hardened steel (at least i am assuming this) it has taken quite a while to wear that groove in the retainer, the throw out bearing has been screaming for about 4 or 5 months, so this problem has been here for a while, since then i have driven in over 4000 miles, there wasnt any damage done to anything but the bearing retainer, now when i installed the new TB it did have a small amount of play on that shaft, to my knowledge the plastic part that sits on the retainer doesnt move but back and forth when the pedal is depressed, am i correct? whats the worst case scenario here?. also, when i dropped the transmission, the pilot bearing fell into my hands and ball bearings from the TB fell out also.

the stock bearing retainer is not hardened steel. make sure you get a steel retainer when you replace the present one. by replacing the throw out bearing and leaving the damaged retainer you could have clutch bind.
