Just got the Diablo Predator.
I can only get 91 octane fuel here in Phoenix.
I installed the "performance" tune and the car feels stronger, but it's pinging at WOT.
The directions say to retard the timing 10% if using 91 octane.
Well, it's tough to figure out how much the timing was advanced, thus making very difficult to figure how much 10% would be. :nonono:
Anyone know what I should set this to?

maybe octane booster would help? You can add it to your tank of gas each time. I dont know expensive it is though. Or just keep backing off the spark till it stops pinging. I run 94 in mine.

When using 91 octane I had to reduce the spark advance. About two clicks past the middle. If it still pings, reduce it by one more click to the left. Also try changing your PCV if you haven't changed it in a while.

When using 93 (My octane of choice) I can max out the spark advance. I saw no benefit when switching to 94.

Math is not required. Fire up the Predator and get to the Timing Advance screen. Click to the left till you see 10. The scale shown is %.

So is each little "click" is a percentage or a degree?
I backed it off 3 clicks and it seemed to help.
Also, I think my exhaust sounds louder and gurggles more with the tune.
Anyone exerience this, or am I just nuts?

Octane boost will not help, that stuff is worthless :notnice:

Since the air is so hot in Phoenix you are going to get detonation at WOT if you try to advance timing much at all. You should adjust it as stated in the above replies.

Heat and insufficient octane are both major contributing factors to detonaton. Detonation is one of the things that can really kill your 4.6 engine.
