93 5.0 That Is Stumbling On Acceleration

My 93 5.0 5 speed has begun to stumble and backfire on medium and hard acceleration. I have changed the fuel pump but that did not help. I have not changed the fuel pressure regulator but I have smelled the vacuum line to it and it does not smell of raw gas. I don't have a big budget but do want to correct this problem. Thanks for any help you can give.

I'd start with properly gapped spark plugs. But you ought to post this in the proper forum. This is for 2005 and up. If you pick where it belongs, you'll get people more familiar with the quirks of your car.

Pretty sure the 93 Stangs use and prefer copper plugs. Point being,, the copper wears out fast and causes what you feel. But they don't seem to like the more expensive plugs. So stick with copper and plan on changing them about every 30,000 miles. Hopefully people in the proper section have even more ideas.
