Defective tank. The pump well is not in the correct position.
In this picture you can see the hole in the hanger where the inlet of the pump slips through the hanger. That hole is directly above a ridge in the well that is meant to fit over the raised part of the tank that is a channel on the outside for the tank strap. The well isn’t positioned all the way over to that ridge so the pump doesn’t sit in the deep side of the well.

This picture is straight down from the hole for the pump. It doesn’t look like it’s all the way over to the strap channel to me.
I even tried the old pump to make sure there wasn’t something wrong with the new hanger and it fit the same way.
Thoughts?
