99/04 gauge bezel

Anyone successfully installed the UPR brushed aluminum gauge cluster bezel?
I bought one with the matching A/C knobs last week. The knobs were a 1 minute
install and look pretty good, but would better if I could have got the bezel on.
OK ...I had the dash all taken apart and removed the black plastic unit with the
clear glass (actually plastic) attached to it. It appeared to be permanatly attached.
The glass has to come off to get the bezel in. So I called UPR and they said to
use a razor blade to break the seal which he said was silicone. NO go.... mine
is glued with epoxy or something. When I tried to force the razor blade in, the
glass started to crack so I reassembled as is before I broke the glass or bezel.

did it on the Gt i used to have. You have to dremel the clear bit off. I tried the razor method and cracked the original one and had to buy another. I used a few dabs of black silicone to glue it back together in case I ever wanted to open it again.

I should have asked the same question. I just tried to install it a few weekends ago. I tried to razor blade the clear part off, but it cracked right through the middle, so I said fugg it, and I just tore it off. Then I mounted the bezel on, and it looks great, but there isn't any plastic covering it. I wanted to buy just the clear plastic part, but i can't find just that. All I can find is the entire sealed unit. I may just get that, and very carefully take it off, and glue it onto mine. Does anyone have any better ideas?

Yes...

Use an x-acto knife. Don't use a dremel. The dremel will remelt the plactic. Once you cut the lens tabs, carefully pop it off, install, silicone seal.

Took me about 15-20 minutes.

Thanks to the idea of using the dremel tool that Mach1Run suggested I gave
it another shot and the install was flawless. I actually had a dremel that I
got as a gift about 5 years ago, still brand new in the box, unused.
I put on a cutting disc and carefully cut in between the glued areas and was
able to pop the glass of the black factory bezel. The plastic will start to melt
so you just cut a little and pick of the melted plastic as you go. Then you
attach the new bezel and reseal the glass with clear silicon. Looks just like
myponyrocks photo only without the whiteface gauges.
