mark the balancer on zero right? i just got the timing light and went outside to see if my timing was at base. i think i might have messed up because i dont see the pointer thing that i remember seeing in the past. i recently removed the smog pump and threw it out when i was done. could that be where it went? is the pointer on the smog pump? where can i shine the light now?

Timing marker on the smog pump.... dude, it's time to cut back on the 420. What you do is with an advance timing light is set the timing to the degree you want to run, then line up the 0 on the timing pointer. Which is located on the balancer.

has nothing to do with the 420. i remember seeing the pointer in that general area and thought it maybe could have been attached to the smog pump. the timing pointer is gone and that was the only thing i removed. i know how to use the advance light i just dont know where to shine it.

If one searches for

Stang 22

He has a write up on setting timing in his sig. The write up has pics IIRC. I cant remember where the pointer bolts on.

Good luck.

:nice: thank you. BTW, i was just outside and i can see the pointer marker from the passenger side. must have had something to do with the angle i was looking at it from earlier.
