Advice Needed For Next Mod

With the current mods in my sig what would you guys do next:

1. Performer intake with 70mm T-body
2. Performer intake keep stock T-body
3. 3:73's
4. SFC's

My future plans are a S/C AFR 185 306 or 331, so I am trying to do mods now that I can use on my future setup. Like if a 70mm t-body is to big for my current set up I just won't do one. Same with maf and injectors, I'm not going to do them now to change them later. What do you guys think?

Tough call with the gears...3.73's are definitely the way to go, but with 355's already, big price jump compared to gain.

The performer intake/70TB is fine now, but will not be enough with that future setup.. If it's more than 2 years out, than it's worth it for now. I wouldnt change inj now, then have to pay for another MAF recal with the new setup.

SFC's will be good no matter what you do later.

There's so may variables, but this should help for now..others will chime in.

RC: I did a search on the performer vs RPM and it really got to be a heated subject. The issue was one guy was told by Ed the rpm was to much for his set up which was the same as another guys and he was told the rpm was right for him. What I got from my research is to make a safe 450-500 rwhp with a two bolt main block you need a good tune and not a lot of rpms. So if I use the 0-5000 rpm intake, I force myself to make power at a lower rpm.(cam and displacement working out the details for the intake!) This is only my opinion through the research I've done. I happen to live in Rhode Island and Flow Tech Induction is 20 min from my house. I should just take a ride and talk to Ed in person.

You can always get the Performer U/L, then if you get a power adder, swap the upper for an RPM upper. Lots of guys have done this.

if you stay with ped mount heads there is no reason to get an intake that pulls to 6500 when your rockers are only good for 6k. just my .02

With my stock heads, yes I am staying ped mount. My 185's will be stud mount. You are exactly correct about the rpm range usefullness. I am thinking along the same lines with the intake. My 306/331 S/C goal is 450-500 rwhp. To acheive this with a two bolt main block the tune must be really good and the rpms low. The performer is good up to 5000 rpm, if I can reach my goals at 5000 I don't need the performer rpm?! That was a question and a statement.

Which blower are you gonna run?

I have no experience with blowers but if we are talking Vortech.........................

I've always wondered what would happen if you set the pulleys for high boost for these two reasons.

Boost would come in quicker
RPM's could be kept lower to keep boost in check

living next to FTI is good but many people have said Ed is really busy and I should do as much reasearch as possible before going to him. That is why I'm talking to you guys. My decision in down to the intake and SFC's. People talk about SFC's like gears "It should have been my first mod" "I should have done them sooner" "feels like a new car" "all my noises and creeks went away" SFC's would get rid of my creeks now and really help when I make more power. On the other hand even with stock heads, many people have said an intake really wakes our cars up because of how restrictive our stock intake are.
So is there anyone out there making high hp with a performer?
Or making 450-500 rwhp at 5000 rpms, S/C'd?

My pedestal mount rockers have been good to 6400 RPM shifts so far....

pulleys, etc seem to be the concensus...wont find any new info.

with a supercharger in your future, plus the 331, go w/ the RPM intake. I guarantee it's not going to hurt you in the least. The blower will keep your low, mid range torque. All that air needs a path man....

To be honest, I think you should talk to him now. I mean, you know you are going with a stroked and blown motor. You know which blower you want. Maybe not 100% sure on the stroke, but you should decide that before you talk to him. So you can give the base and he can give you the combo.

My guess is he will say yes to the 185's and the RPM, with one of his cams.

Honestly, I would do it all at once and be done with it. Save up for the heads/cam/intake and kill 3 birds. You will run out of fuel, but that can be changed w/ some 42's and a MAF cal'ed to it, plus a afpr and a 255 pump.

Then once you add the blower, you get a wb o2 w/ a tuner or a dyno tune, and you are set.
