Starting a new turbo build and i'm wondering what to do about the heads.

I've got MPH's 800hp shortblock and i'm building a turbo kit around a Garrett GT42R. I'm looking at around 600rwhp. Could i manage that with the stock 2v heads/cams?

Now would probably be the easiest time to get the heads done since everything is going to be apart. Any recommendations if i do decide to do the heads? What about cams?

Will the ported heads affect the compression ratio much? I've currently got 18cc dish pistons and would like to keep ~ 9:1 compression. I don't see anything from Fox Lake regarding combustion chamber size.

Thanks

your gonna be hard pressed to get those numbers with stock cams, and heads. i would go with a turbo cam, or a custom grind, and atleast a stage 2 porting on the heads. the 2v heads SUCK, anything and everything that makes them flow better is a necessity for making anything above 450.

I doubt u will need to worry about CC size. all the heads your going to buy will be used PI heads anyways, so they should SHOULD be the same. u can always call and ask first.

i have the fox heads. as far as i know they dont touch the combustion chamber. i think other companies do. that is on reason i remember choosing the fox lake heads a couple of years ago.

im not 100% on that, but i remember something along those lines.

I agree with the others as far as the 2v heads are concerned the heads do suck..
I personally recommend the DSS racing heads. they have a couple to choose from but they have brand new ford racing castings with a full port and polish job and oversized valves... would be a very nice compliment to that bottom end... as well as getting a turbo cam or a custom grind cam. they do port the CC some... they take it out to 50cc instad of the stock 46cc i believe. but in the long run that should be better for a blown or turbo motor...
